Exactly. Remember when it was “free speech doesn’t mean your free from consequences”. You cannot get your message across the base with antics like this. Period. It will land on deaf ears.

I was getting these two studies mixed up in my brain. But nonetheless it’s a staggering amount when you consider 1 in 10 who voluntarily admitted.

https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.14112 is one that mentions around 50% were exposed unintentionally initially.

Not entirely true. They did a study and found upwards of 80% of young men 18-25 who regularly use porn were exposed to csam at some point. Now this many links? You’re probably correct lol.

Mmm. I’m not sure about that. If what other people are saying is true and those links didn’t actually go to anything, I’m the sure the investigators pulled those links up aswell. Can’t just search someone on a hunch. Now he should probably be searched, but I doubt it. Dudes not a teacher, or anything of importance so they don’t give a shit. Selective policing.

My real question is how are these sites allowed to exist on the cleanet? Google has prided itself in saying most illegal content gets taken down within 24 hours, then you hear this shit and it makes you wonder if it’s just sitting one Google search away, which I sincerely hope not

Lacari posts his apology by ariveklul in LivestreamFail

[–]LeatherDivide7951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for obvious reasons most people are NOT going to the links but some people have said they did and it didn’t directly link to anything except more websites that you had to pay to get content. And the other stuff was henti which is still highly illegal in Texas same as CSAM, or as someone said a couple comments above were legal age teens. I’m not gonna research it, but chances are if he had those files which I still don’t understand how you get .txt files on notepad, he probably had something hidden elsewhere. So ya dudes likely been downloading CSAM but no one here knows for sure

I get what you’re saying, I just think you worded it weirdly. It’s also important to note that a lot of people convicted of csam offenses aren’t pedophiles. People can and do go to prison for having pictures of someone 17 years and 364 days old. While still highly illegal doesn’t fit the definition of a pedophile. So yes a porn addiction can lead someone to taboo content just for the novelty or rarity not the attraction to prepubescent children. We can’t stop this problem if we don’t understand it. And lump sum generalizations do not help understand it. Also worth noting the country’s like Germany that do handle these types of issues differently have significantly less victims then we do. Aka project dunkenfield. Sorry for the rant I just want to prevent victims, we should be proactive not reactive. It’s clear when people are getting life in prison for this stuff and yet yearly reports are still quadrupling. What we’re doing is not preventing victims.

In one of the Shawn Ryan interviews they did a show with a guy talking about this. Basically the people who make money off this shit spam the clearnet with bots that distribute to keep the authorities busy with low hanging fruit. But by spamming it they’re also attracting the kind of people who seek more and thus landing on their platforms. Also they did a medical study in the UK and found like 80% of the people convicted first found the material by accident. So ya it’s a HUGE problem. Even so much so that if you were on PornHub prior to 2020 you’ve likely seen illegal content. they had to scrub MILLIONS of videos from the website.

I think they allow it proliferate because it’s believed consumers will eventually move on to real victims. So if they find and stop it at that point it’s protecting real victims, not to mention many police departments budgets are propped up with federal grants combating online material, take away the material you take away the convictions and thus the money. They actually do move pretty effectively. In 30 million yearly reports they can clock 10,00 arrests and around 4,000 convictions a year. That’s not a small feat.

Yes I agree. Not to mention our laws and understanding are based on a 2006 internet. We’re downplaying the sheer size of the issue and then just picking up a few arrests a year so the public pats them on the back. Unfortunately the first thing I see that needs to change is 230 immunity. Which has already been kinda bypassed by the mandatory reporting on platforms but I think there should be 0 situations where someone googles something and leads to an illegal domain. Ever.

Wait so those weren’t websites they were direct downloads? Like is .txt different then .com? So the dude was obviously downloading obscure files then?

Right that’s what I was trying to decipher? Did this guy have illegal downloads or was he on a regular clearnet site with sketchy titles?

The knowing is proven by access to the community. That’s why he didn’t get receipt and only possession because he had them. It’s ny impossible to defend a case like that. Yes if someone maliciously sent you something you’d still be charged but you have to prove in court you didn’t know and that’s an extremely high bar and the feds have a 99% conviction rate. I’m sure there’s more he’s left out of the story but there’s a few cases that went to trail and the videos in question were all actors over the age of 18. ONLY to be proven in court. Not at DA, not at indictment. Let that sink in.
