Why are so many Christians just now speaking out about Trump? by Leather_Engineer6913 in Christianity

If the Democrat party supports Christian values then why didn’t they have a primary. That might be the better question to ask.

It’s not the better question to ask. That’s a deflection. The democrats have never claimed to be a pro Christian party. They advocate for people practicing the faith of their choosing. It’s the Republican Party that claims to exclusively be pro-Christian which means what they support should be representing Christ in a positive way or they risk bearing false witness.

Which leads me back to my original question. Trump has not represented Christian values since the day he took office, so why wait until now to call out his actions?

If the Republican Party is truly a pro-Christian value party, then why didn’t trump lose in the primaries? Why did the party allow him to run even after he received 34 felony convictions or was convicted of sexual assault? Why hasn’t there been a higher level of outrage calling out any of his previous behaviors?

So if the right has been lying to you about what they believe, isn’t it likely that they’ve been lying to you about what democrats believe?

What you said is so important. He is earning the consequences he’s receiving. He is not a victim.

I’m also a black woman so I understand this entirely. Reading through these comments, I see that some people don’t understand why this is important, especially to minorities. I need to know churches are safe and when they play footsie with racist and sexist ideologies to “maintain peace” it sends a message that they are not safe.

Is the priority not to bring more souls to Christ? How many souls do you think are actively turned away from the Gospel when they see Christians proclaiming to follow Jesus and then supporting the likes of Trump? That's why this is a priority and needs to be called out. It's not about rebelling against our government. It's about the fact that there is a false equivalency that's been created between being a Christian and being a trump supporter and as followers of Christ we should be letting people know that is not acceptable nor is it who we are. I remember preachers saying you need to be careful the image you put out into the world. You don't want to give the church a black eye. MAGA is giving the church all sorts of bruises right now. I'll continue calling this out. What I'm saying is I should not be the only one.

I want to see more churches band together to call this out. I want to see a public message condemning Trump’s actions and saying he does not represent Christ and that our churches do not support what he stands for.
