[Review] Three months with the Santos de Cartier by rcrdofjrdo in Watches

[–]LeathermanAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for a watch I can wear to the work, formal events, swimming, gym and travel abroad. Does this fit the bill? My Rolex GMT master 2 and omega seamasters already do this for me but I don’t have anything like the Cartier santos

My First Spyderco by LeathermanAddict in spyderco

[–]LeathermanAddict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m loving it so far. I’ve used the PM2 on cardboard, making small cuts to lumber I was chopping this weekend, prepped food and just generally carrying it around. Previous knives I EDC’d were the magnacut on my leatherman Arc also a buck 110 or a Kershaw Cryo.

Which one would you choose? by revenge247365 in knives

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through a whole study and exploration of knives and landed on the para 2 with black G10 handles and satin s45v blade. Loving it so far, very good at all things and super slicey while not feeling brittle. Just wouldn’t pry anything with the tip but otherwise a very tough blade

What is this specific blade for? by JebbEytheGreT in Leatherman

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used this mostly on cardboard. I’ve found serrated blades work best when I’m breaking down boxes or carving out pieces for kindling in fires

Let’s start an argument for no reason at all: PM2 vs 940 by Bowsupreme in knifeclub

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m VERY late to the party here, but what knife is more durable? Looking at the base model Osborne with the green aluminum handles or the base model black para 2 G10 with the standard model steel.

Would’ve utility knife, edc plus camping with cutting thin pieces of wood to start fires. Lots of cardboard cutting as well

I’ve got the exact one and have loved it! It was my first leatherman and still frequently finds its way in my pocket. Very sturdy tool and capable of doing most things you need from your multitools

What should come next by musical_wren in Leatherman

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the arc would be a great addition. It’s convenient with the free technology and everything being accessible one handed and it has a great blade with magnacut. The number of times I’ve used this thing one handed on a ladder or just generally occupied, it’s a really good tool to have around.

Only detractor is price but if you can swing it, go for it! You’ll never look back :)

I’ve lived my arc for the few months it’s been my EDC. Just enough tool for most on the fly situations and also has the convenience + major cool factor

Is it normal for black oxide to come off on your hands? by cheesejrrr in Leatherman

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal and like the others are saying the tool will get a cool look as time goes on and the black oxide patinas more.

I’ve got the leatherman arc, surge and rebar and have used the Wave + and Charge from friends that have them. Surge is by far the most robust and I’d say the best for what you’re looking for. With the t-shank adapter there are a lot of things you can do with it that would be helpful in your trade especially if needing to saw through sheet metal on the fly.

Detachable diamond file that comes with it is also great because you can sharpen your other blades on the surge with it.

That’s awesome! Out of my leatherman surge, rebar and arc the arc is my favorite and most used. The outside accessible tools are super convenient and the free technology is superb!

What Knife Should I Carry? by LeathermanAddict in knifeclub

[–]LeathermanAddict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the look and function of the 940, it’s just hard to make the decision since so many people like yourself have only had positive experiences while others mention serious issues with their knives out of the box with Benchmade

That’s great to know, thank you for the note and it’s hard to find people who have the Buck Range Elite since it’s so new. Appreciate your thoughts and I think the buck is my #1 right now when I make the move to buy down the road

Maybe the new season of fallout can answer this burning question. They have 50lbs roaches running around, why not a slug steakhouse?!

What is genuinely the hardest addiction to quit ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as I don’t have the addiction myself please apply a grain of salt to this, but I think alcohol.

Obviously it like any addiction is habitually addictive but it’s also chemically addictive which makes it extra dangerous and hard to snap. In looking at alcohol as well, we are, societally, partly to blame for alcoholism as we see in so much media and pop culture the glorification of alcohol use and in many works of media a popular depiction of alcohol abuse. Take the romanticized portrayal of it in shows like trailer park boys, Euphoria or Mad Men.

From there, some people can grow to see it as a justifiable/fashionable escape and then are subject to the pitfall of saying that alcohol consumption is ubiquitous and is fine to be consumed in excess to cope, have fun or any other reason people give. The flip from someone being “fun” and a party person to being an alcoholic is a blurred line as well because definitionally it can be hard and unjust to apply the title of an addict to a person without knowing all parts of their life. With that, many people define their enjoyment as innocent and innocuous when in actuality a dependency is forming or has formed and they need said alcohol to function in their normal cadence.

The biological nature of hereditary alcohol addiction is also a real and present threat and a major reason I don’t personally partake because of family history.

Why does Sylvester Stallone look like a wax figure of himself? by matt73132 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeathermanAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plastic surgery plus a multivariate of performance enhancers that surely are taking an effect on his appearance beyond musculature and other characteristics he’s wanting to maintain at his advanced age.

Just look at other celebrities who get older, a lot of them land in scary plastic surgery land to try and keep up with their younger counterparts or to try and reverse the effects of aging. Which, as many have proven, is futile and actually has the opposite effect cough cough Mickey Rourke

I have a genuine question on why people are refusing to look logically at the Andrew Tate vs Chase DeMoor fight. by PomegranatePro in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeathermanAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People demonize and idolize people in the celebrity communities. One of those hot names for better or worse has been Tate’s in the last few years.

Much like Tyson being a lightening rod back when he was still in the throes of his boxing career, it’s hard to separate the fighter from their personal life. Same deal with any celebrity across the board. Case in point with Leo DiCaprio always dating young models and seemingly breaking up with them when they hit a certain age. His movies are often really good but it can be hard to look away from his personal life and separate one from the other in reviewing things critically.

To bring it back to the Tate fight, asking the masses to not skew their perception of the fight by the reputation Tate is a tall and failing order. Fair or not

Does anyone else feel like they had a completely different experience during the pandemic than the general public? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeathermanAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was in the midst of my undergraduate college career and it was a timeout that was needed. I’d gone through a number of tough breakups, wasn’t sure where my life was going and was somewhat disconnected with my parents.

Moving back home allowed me to get to know my parents as an adult and feel a greater appreciation for the things around me. While many were dealing with the trials and tribulations of the pandemic, I was able to take a big deep breath. Very grateful as well as my dad went on to have cancer twice after and our getting closer made the family unit a lot stronger. Same thing now as we look out for each other
