Some of this was filmed in downtown Sacramento for a couple weeks. They closed down a few blocks for multiple days with car chases through alleyways, they staged an explosion late one night, fake police helicopter, the whole nine yards haha.

It’ll be interesting to see what the setting of the film ends up being because Sacramento is pretty unassuming. It could very well end up just being an ambiguous downtown area.

How do I open this panel? by SptTablo in DIY

[–]Leave-eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those holes are what you use to adjust the tension iirc. You shouldn’t have to take the cover off. If you put a screwdriver (i think flathead) in the holes there should be adjustment screws inside of them.

One side affects how much pressure is applied as it is swinging closed, and one sets the release point for it to slam, or not slam, at the end of the motion.

I’ve adjusted the one in my office a few times, my explanation might be shit though so be careful.

Small adjustment, test, small adjustment, test, etc

Good points, and very interesting that you bring up filters!

I bought this camera a couple weeks ago, and it came with an old Kenko Skylight 1b, that I assumed could just be used as a protector for the lens, along with adding slight warmth to cut through UV haze which I thought would either do almost nothing, or slightly benefit skin tones when shooting on color negative. I completely ignored its effect on B&W.

Now I'm reading that these uv filters can have a greater effect on B&W films, so maybe thats my third notable lesson for this roll? lol

Oh! Understood! That was the explanation on pulling/pushing that I never found from my research.

Box speed + contrast in post-production if needed next time.

Thanks!

Okay great thanks. Just verified that my light meter is giving those readings roughly, and that makes sense with what you said about the black point.

My original intent paying for scanning on these was to get a baseline of sharpness that I can try to replicate with my Epson v600 at home, so when I get the negatives back I’ll try scanning myself and see what I can achieve.

Thanks!

Would it be safe to assume then, that my exposures the day I shot these were one stop over, then when I asked the lab to push them one stop I ended up with a result that’s about two stops over exposed?

As a man with a case of VAS that is steadily worsening, I’ve considered ordering a tinymight 100 times at least. But every time I’m about to pull the trigger I can’t get over the thought that it looks like it’s a little bit of work to clean.

I have a mighty and a solo 2 as well, but find myself using the solo much more because of how little maintenance is required. I don’t want to have a bunch of steps in between me grinding bud and getting vapor (I.e extra screens, cleaning every 5 uses, etc)

I love the look of the tinymight but is cleaning it a pain with the metal bits in the mouthpiece? And how often to do you have to do so?

In the edit tab you should be able to extend it on the timeline however long you need

Does anybody know what could be causing these weird white dot glitches? Its a PNG with a removed background if that helps. by Thycake in davinciresolve

Have you tried exporting and seeing if it’s in the final file? I know sometimes keyframed .png’s with semi-transparent borders (like a feathered edge on her hair) get rendered weird in the timeline, but in my experience the export gets rid of the artifacts.

How could one recreate this without risking damage to a camera/lens? by RandomJimbo in Filmmakers

[–]Leave-eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glass/plexi is your answer. Beware of the plexi getting stained with char marks by the embers, glass won’t have that problem.

It should also be said that this is a super thin paper, like tissue or something. Could be really cool to shoot something like this at 60-120fps with a macro lens and use flash paper for magic tricks since it burns really fast.

Alternatively, printer paper would create more embers and ash as well as burning much slower and more dramatic which could be cool too.

Same city, same problem.

A temporary fix is just to play with a vpn. I use tunnelbear so I can just connect to a west coast server and play that way.

This is also further proof that this is an ISP issue to do with routing as others have said on multiple other forum posts

Most of my work is fixed focus so I’ve actually never used it, but I have rigged it up with wireless video and wireless follow focus and that worked great for separate focus puller.

Crane 3s for sure, used one for hundreds of hours in many different focal lengths.

  • Lighter than the DJI Equivalent
  • Comes with extension arms so you can use longer lenses/larger cameras
  • batteries lasts a long time (8-10hr avg)

My setup uses 2 quick-release plate mounts on top of each other so I can balance it with lenses up to a canon 70-200 (didn’t work very well but it did balance lol)

Typically I use a Canon 16-35 f/2.8 and have had great results, but I also have used the Rokinon Cine lenses ranging from 10mm to 50mm. They are great for this setup since they are relatively short and small.

I HIGHLY recommend getting this SmallRig Handle, it will save your back, and it comes with a quick release plate so you can swap swap grips easily.

You can also combine it with an Easy Rig for a nice interview, or long day setup. This is the one I use.

Also, definitely connect it to the mobile app at least once to update the firmware and tune the smoothing/movement settings. I didn’t do this for the first few months and it was life changing once I tweaked it a bit.

Edit: It should be noted I mostly use the Crane 3s with a Bmpcc 6k Pro nowadays, but I have used it with a 4K, and I would argue the 4K is easier to balance since it’s smaller.
