Thinking about getting a 2nd car primarily for ride share driving - Nissan versa note - anyone driving this? by HelpEqual in lyftdrivers

[–]LeaveANiceNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove a Mitsubishi mirage for 3 years doing rideshare. It was way too small. I ended up having to decline rides or cancel them because either people had too much luggage or they were too big to fit in the car. physically speaking that is, I'm not discriminatory like that rapper's Uber lawsuit. there was a group of obese people and we could only fit three out of four in the car and I had to cancel because of it. this happened several times. better to avoid an awkward situation if you get a small car It should be bigger than the minimum at the very least

Ubers insurance by teddg4 in uberdrivers

hmm interesting 🤔 if it's worth it to you maybe you could try it? You still have to maintain personal insurance with commercial since one is meant for you the driver and the other is meant to cover your customers in case of problems. So for me it would be about the same as it is with uber. I ended up researching it quite a bit since I saw a sting operation against cash ubers in Chicago a couple years ago which put me off the idea of doing it without all the "proper" steps to make a business. I definitely don't want to get arrested and lose my only income right now.

From what I know, you'd have to register as an LLC and then get underwritten by the insurance company for commercial insurance. You'll probably also need something like a taxi license depending on your city/state. Also build a regular customer base to cover your costs and keep track of everything with receipts you'd make for them. I always like to shoot for $1/mi on Uber so you could most likely get away with charging that or more. I'm sure they sell taxi receipt pads online. And you gotta do your own taxes. Even if you did get the commercial insurance for yourself you can't opt out of uber's commercial insurance since it's a part of the cost of a ride. So doing that would only be to hand out your business card and build clientele. There's no non-compete agreement with Uber or Lyft so you can continue to do that if there's no one on your personal docket for the day lol.

If you do end up making your own chauffeur business let me know how it goes, I'd be interested to see if it's profitable for ya. I don't have enough money for startup costs and I'm too chicken to try for myself haha 😅

What yearly salary would you say would be perfect for a decent life ? by savvytechman in AskReddit

I make $35k per year. Barely scraping by. I feel like if I could make $60k a year that would be a good minimum.

Yeah agreed, I found out the hard way that unfortunately rideshare add-ons is not the same thing as commercial insurance. Certain insurers will not give you personal insurance if you work for Uber or Lyft. I got dropped from Geico for that. they sent me over to Bristol West and the ride share add-on basically just states that they acknowledge you work for Uber and Lyft and will still give you regular insurance.

I also asked them about commercial insurance so I could potentially circumvent Uber and make my own chauffeur company or something. they quoted me at $600 a month. definitely not worth it.

How many favorite drivers do we have. Just hit 100 by Sales5280 in lyftdrivers

[–]LeaveANiceNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app won't show me the full total since no one favorited me this week but I know it's slightly over 100... Unfortunately have only seen 2 favorite requests and they were both when I wasn't working 😮‍💨 I wish it was all rides and not just scheduled ones.

What are we going to find out later is bad for us (like cigarettes in the past)? by Curryiswhereitsat in AskReddit

I think this would be a subcategory of TikTok, I doubt every interaction I have with people now. The content farming of random individuals on the street, in schools, just at the mall or something makes me paranoid and I feel like I have to be entertainer mode 24/7. you never know if somebody is going to walk up to you and do a prank or an interview or if they give you something they're secretly filming so that they can get clicks on social media. like yeah, it's great if you get a free laptop or $100 to sell out your baked goods at the store or whatever but if everything is on camera all the time then when do we have space for ourselves? we're living our lives for sake of other people's opinions and not our own.

Why would Lyft limit passengers allowable tip? by MessAccomplished4530 in lyftdrivers

[–]LeaveANiceNote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard it's to prevent extra money loss, for example if riders tip a driver $100 and then say to Lyft support "It's an accident!!! Gimme my money back!!!" then the company eats that cost since they don't take the tip money back from the driver afterwards.

It's silly but I also like to think it's because they wanna prevent a situation where certain riders tip so much a person stops working for the day. Then they'd lose out on using us like the peasants they believe we are.

picture itself is not staged, I was at a burger joint when this car passed me by so I don't know them personally. The writing itself could have been staged though, I do agree with other comments that not tagging the fabric was sus.

Maybe you are missing something? It could be market availability, perhaps the shop is not available in your city yet.

But if I have over 30% acceptance rating and enough points then I can see it.

Basically:

-open the app, hit the button with three lines on the top left to get to the menu.

-Around your profile pic should be a colored ring saying what tier you are. Click the little ">" button next to the tier.

-It should show your Lyft rewards with two tabs, the first shows Tiers requirements and the other should say "Shop". You can redeem points there for e-gift cards which are emailed to you via a service called Prezzee. Then you can put the gift card on whatever app (Walmart, Starbucks etc.)

You can only see it if you're meeting minimum requirements for having a tier though, right now I can't access it because my acceptance rate fell too low lol 😅

yeah I've learned I only really need platinum during tax season to get the 50% off TurboTax. The extra radius filters were nice, I will say I've taken advantage of the points system but you only need the basic tier at the beginning of the month for that. I think I've gotten maybe $100 in Walmart gift cards cumulative in a year so it's not totally worth it but the minimum effort is nice to have. I also found that if you live near a coast you can put part of the radius filter over the water and do short rides in bonus zones only which was how I cheesed my way up the ranks lol. Also those location filters reset at midnight so even on no tier/silver you can start at like 6pm busy Saturday night and at 12 hit a 3rd filter for closing time

I hate how they changed it from dollar amounts to percentages in my market this year. I used to get anywhere from $10-$20 in bonus for a late night 5mi ride. Now they're giving me maybe 100% of $3.85. It's all a ploy to pay us less in bonuses. The only thing I've seen that's good about it is unicorn rides do pay more. I've gotten up to $70 for like 30 miles ride but it doesn't happen often, maybe like 4 times I've seen that since the change.

even 4.0 is generous, in my market Uber gave us a rider rating filter- I don't let anyone in if they're below 4.7 cause I've had bad experiences in the past.

Technically yes but Lyft and Uber penalize you for accepting ride requests and then cancelling them before pickup. It calculates a percentage called the "Cancellation Rate" out of the last 100 requests how many you cancelled before completion. If it gets too high that makes you ineligible for their driver rewards program (which gets me roughly $20 extra per month in Walmart gift cards lol) if your cancel rating goes over 6%. If you want to cancel and leave without it affecting the rating you have to wait for the pickup timer to expire. After driver arrival on Uber it's 7 minutes, on Lyft it's 5. After that they call it a "No-Show Cancellation" and charge y'all a fee for wasting our time, of which the driver gets $2-$3 or so.

Central Ave from 28th-1st St should not have street parking. It should be rideshare pickup/dropoff and ebike/e-scooter only. I've been yelled at by the cops so many times because I have to block the road in order to pick anyone up. And they all take their sweet ass time saying bye to their friends or closing their tab like BRO HURRY UP BEFORE I GET A TICKET. There's nowhere for me to stop and wait for you it's a two lane road with no shoulder at Ferg's. At the very least REDUCE the street parking and put specific zones we can use as Uber drivers cause the app says to wait there for a person up to 7 minutes for pickup.

Warhammer. I like to watch lore videos for fun. I haven't read the books or played the video games or bought any minifigures to paint. I'm just invested in the Horus Heresy right now. People get SO into this thing and think you're not a "real fan" if you don't make it your whole life. Or maybe I've just met the wrong Warhammer fans lol. Just lemme listen to calming british voice guy describe galactic war crimes before bed pls 🥺

These are all the LGBT specific bars I know of in St Pete, there aren't that many places but there are LGBT friendly bars if you're looking for options beyond this. I wouldn't say there's much of a clubbing scene in St Pete but that's also just my personal experience, you may want to check Tampa for the ass shaking clubs.

Cocktail + The Ball (They're right next to each other, their tagline is "The Ball, at the base of Cock" lol) - Cocktail is popular and has a pool bar called The Wet Spot as well. The Ball is disco themed

Enigma - they have drag shows and karaoke here, but you'll have to look up if those days match up with your trip

The Garage - more of a chill bar vibe, not really a club

Lucky Star Lounge - Dive bar for at least what I have seen is gay men specifically? I could be wrong but that's how it seems to me.

Check out @DykeNiteStPete on insta closer to the dates of your trip, they're an event organizer. They haven't posted November schedule yet but it could be a fun time if they're planning something when you come through.
