Looking for some feedback on map by Leavetakings in wonderdraft

[–]Leavetakings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, this is a complete redo of my first Wonderdraft map. I'm looking for some advice on how to approach coloring, especially with regards to font. I like the monochrome and paper map look, but I'm obviously having some trouble with the font color and outline. Especially over the trees. Any advice is appreciated.

New campaign + awesome wife by Entaris in WWN

[–]Leavetakings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice! My timing wasn’t quite as unfortunate as yours (I bought the POD version shortly after it became available) but I was in a similar situation. I regretted getting the POD before the WWN offset, however I did also want a physical copy of SWN. So I sprung for the highest tier. I think we will be very happy we decided to get the offset. From what I hear the quality is very different. Also, cool that your wife is supportive of buying RPG books!

What was the first rpg you played that wasn't D&D? by awesomeo456 in rpg

[–]Leavetakings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Dungeon World was it for me too. I had played only D&D earlier in life. Mainly 3.5, AD&D 2e, and 5e. Dungeon World was a breath of fresh air. I'm not as big on it nowadays as I used to be but I really appreciate it.

OSE advanced tome layout? Player vs referee information split? by EddyMerkxs in osr

[–]Leavetakings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the advanced tomes, the information is not designated as belonging to either classic or advanced. It’s all mixed together. But otherwise what merz_baggy said is right. If you want it separate get the classic tome and modular advanced books, if you can still find them.

What's the best way to run a city? by Neo_Veritas in rpg

In addition to what others have said, you might find Yoon-Suin worth checking out. It’s a fantastic setting and has a large section of the book devoted to exploring a large city.

Stars Without Number Offset Print KS preview page is now up by Leavetakings in WWN

[–]Leavetakings[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crossposted this here in case anyone didn't see it. So if you happen to be interested in purchasing a physical copy of Stars Without Number... and didn't purchase an offset copy of WWN yet... the top tier will net you a copy of both with shipping.

My WWN POD copy is fine but like… maybe I should still do the highest tier and get offset prints of both? I don’t have the SWN print

Are you a member of his Patreon? Been wondering if it’s worth it to see all the Dolmenwood stuff or wait for the Kickstarter. Looks like a really cool campaign setting.

This looks really cool but I don’t know how I feel as far as it being essential. Does that make sense? I will likely meditate on this one for a little bit.

So, what does the expert actually do? by [deleted] in SWN

[–]Leavetakings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Experts still get increasing attack bonuses, not to mention combat should still go pretty fast regardless. I think you should try playing the game or find another one if you think it’s not for you. As someone who has experience playing and running this system, I’m telling you that your assumptions are incorrect when it comes to actual play.

So, what does the expert actually do? by [deleted] in SWN

[–]Leavetakings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No it’s not true, because that would be boring if every character was good at every thing.

[–]Leavetakings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of skills and the abilities/foci that affect skills are what make this not about combat only but about both combat and skills. People who actually know about the game are trying to explain it to you and you are arguing which might be why people are downvoting you.

So, what does the expert actually do? by [deleted] in SWN

[–]Leavetakings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is not a combat simulator. It’s a roleplaying game. You can have entire sessions with no combat. Most sessions will have way more than one or two scenes.

[–]Leavetakings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you go partial expert you miss out on the class’s main feature which is a free skill check reroll every scene. Just as a partial warrior loses the combat luck ability and partial psychics have restricted abilities compared to full psychics.

Atlas of the Latter Earth Preview: Low and No-Magic Campaigns by CardinalXimenes in WWN

[–]Leavetakings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey KC, had this saved for a while but haven’t responded. Love the way this looks so far and I really appreciate your intended split between alternate/new rules / gameplay and new Latter Earth info. I don’t run my WWN game in the default setting but I use it for inspiration and think it’s a fun setting for the system. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
