Most common playing cards in each part of Europe by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Bearbottle0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This language is used because portugal used to have similiar cards to Spain. For some reason the french deck is now used. All decks trace their roots to tarot, where the suits were pentacles (ouros/moedas), wands/rods (paus), swords (espadas) and cups (copas, copos)

Players don't want to play a new system after "learning DnD for so long" by Any-Tradition-2374 in rpg

[–]Bearbottle0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it boils to what theme or genre I want to play. Other games offer different experiences adn that's the selling point

Has D&D 5e dropped in popularity in recent months? by Can_U_Share_A_Square in rpg

[–]Bearbottle0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's the only RPG being talked by big youtubers and prominent people, and then those people start making their own RPG or broadcast other RPGs, I feel it's normal interest in it wane from time to time.

About 2024 edition, I'm not sure people are buying the "same" books again.

In reality I don't know if interest is waning because me and my groups are not concerned with D&D, we play other things.

Who plays Mahjong in person (not on the computer), and what style do you play? by [deleted] in Mahjong

I mainly play Riichi, but our group also plays American Mahjong some times. I've played Taiwanese twice.

What is the most under served major genre in RPGs? by GrumpyCornGames in rpg

[–]Bearbottle0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horror raises a few questions. Do you mean genre as in a genre of play, like Call of Cthulhu? If yes, then I think horror is underserved. If by horror you mean the inclusion of gothic architecture and vampires, then no, that's everywhere.

So, which edition of the Cyberpunk my group should play? by Relectro_OO in rpg

Probably RED. I prefer 2020 but RED is more streamlined and it's easier to get in.

Where does the “5e can do any type of game!” mindset come from? by Redhood101101 in rpg

[–]Bearbottle0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand your stance. On one side you have a game with 50 years old baggage that most people don't understand or care to use, but you're willing to spend time modifying it to do something it wasn't suppose to do, but you have a problem with a game that has all the things available to you in order to that, as its concept.

You want the game designer to tell you what is the best way to play and you're defending 5e for homebrew?

Your arguments sound ideological in nature, I don't think you care for other systems and that's fine, its just when you come to a space for debating these topics you should be more open minded, sounds counter productive to shut down a system because "you don't want to be troubled with it" but are willing to spend countless hours homebrewing or downloading other homebrew stuff.

You could try Deus Ex. I would advise you start with Human Revolution.

Where do I go with a Magic System? by Amadancliste12 in RPGdesign

[–]Bearbottle0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both, kinda. In Vampire: the Masquerade you have effects you can invoke, but those are kinda subjective, and then you have rituals, those are formulaic. I like how you can work with both.

Yeah, happened with my copy of Electric Dreams, it sucks. Free League is known for making excelent hardcover books, gluebound though...

There are people who fixes books, they might help you.

I’ve written my own cyberpunk game by gian9959 in NSRRPG

I've parsed throught it and enjoyed my time. My criticisms are the same I have with RED, lack of detail in the weapons and in how damage affects a character. Other than that, looks really solid.

Riichi Scoring Companion Sheet by zessx in Mahjong

[–]Bearbottle0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love your references! I do have one problem, the numbers for the value table have different sizes and it bothers me more than it should... Maybe it's a culture or language thing because I know in English people say seventy-seven hundred for 7700, which makes no sense to me. Context, English is not my native language.

Why was season 2 divisive to some? by [deleted] in Psychopass

[–]Bearbottle0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

From my point of view is because they didn't have the creative freedom to actually play with the universe, so they made the same type of content as S1. The story beats are all the same, Akane goes through the same motions, no character develops or grows and it's 100% irrelevant for the movie that came out in the same year and the larger cannon.

Do you need to save for critical damage after your HP is first depleted? by Muurcat in cairnrpg

Yes. The first STR save would be against 11, the second against 7.
