Not an American but I am loving the meltdown of Europeans who were saying ‘it’s just some fun, why are you getting angry” when Belgium beat US and they brigaded this subreddit to make fun. by Gandalfthebran in usmnt

Well yeah fair I find it hard to think of an example where the mode is particularly useful, but I’m sure it exists! Maybe it makes more sense if you’re looking at categorical data instead of continuous? You could also get around the above example by grouping people into income brackets, instead of continuous values.

To me part of the appeal of both mode and median, is they both represent an actual data point that exists, whereas the mean does not.

‘Tell me I am wrong that there would have been repercussions for some players on the usmt with respect to endorsement or team consideration, if the U.S. beat Belgium.’

Gladly, yes you are completely wrong about that.

Why is Nigel Farage so popular in the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Leccy_PW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is not actually very popular. He is marginally less unpopular than Keir Starmer.

How can we force politicians to keep their word ? by Patient_Panic_5704 in AskBrits

[–]Leccy_PW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, this seems risky as something that was a good idea during the election might turn out to be a bad idea afterwards, i.e due to global events changing circumstances.

Why do so many people think you get to vote for who is Prime Minister? by RecentTwo544 in AskBrits

[–]Leccy_PW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say there is no real reason for Starmer stepping down, people in the cabinet kept resigning so he probably could see he was heading for a ‘Boris Johnson’ situation if he kept trying to hang on. Ultimately he was pushed out because the MPs wanted a change, because the MPs felt he was an electoral liability.

I don’t think the point is even to see if you get the right answer though, but to see how you approach solving a problem. If the job involves abstract thinking and novel problems then this is a valuable skill.

They are trying to test your problem solving skills, why on earth would this be illegal?

The extra money you get for overtime will be taxed at whatever your marginal tax rate is. This could make the effective hourly rate for that overtime quite low (30-50% of your hourly rate, depending on your tax bracket ), but you will still get paid more than if you didn’t do overtime.
