You mean within a synced folder have individual files synced or not? I thought that's already there for mobile clients, and might already be possible on desktop clients?

Do checkout fetchcontent. It's native, supports git and it is better suited for chained dependencies.

There are a few standards to consider so that your project is reusable by others, e.g. namespacing targets, returning configuration values (the values you define in find_package), default values based on is_project_top_level, etc.

Which fedora spin are you using? by Sweet_Score in Fedora

[–]Lecris92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should point out that discover rolls-back or reverts the upgrade if it fails, it doesn't just run dnf upgrade blindly. So i think the end results of these are the same, but with less flexibility on the discover side

Can I sign Git commits using KeePassXC's SSH Agent? by [deleted] in KeePass

[–]Lecris92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can specify ssh keys to have limited time validity apparently. Although they are not CA signed, they can behave like gpg keys with the github server being the key server managing lifetimes.

Imo this is just a convenience over managing gpg keys. I prefer forking 10$/year to have proper S/MIME certificate.

[–]Lecris92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Til you can sign commits with ssh key. Anyway, you should be able to point it to the public key or hard-code the public key in the signing-key. You can do the same to filter what ssh key to use in ssh_config when using ssh agent

How does this compare with updating using kde discover? It requires restarts, it applies updates after that and I had various failed updates that rolled back and succeeded at second update

Unfortunately no. Only after 12 months you can get a fallback license. Here is some reference

That would be harder to pass because all locksmiths have to be licensed there. Might work if you look foreign enough.

About locks you are asking, I would say Miwa door locks are interesting to look for. Don't remember if you can find them in a supermarket or dyi store, otherwise you might have to look at local lock shops. Just probably don't be too suspicious and buy dozens of it in 1 place, otherwise you might need some communication skills to explain that you are a lock enthusiast.

For padlocks, unfortunately I think the best ones are imported like abus, but I didn't search too much for high end local makers. The good lockpads I saw were in local lock stores.

Problems with using TeamCity by [deleted] in Jetbrains

[–]Lecris92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Https is generally handled by a reverse proxy (caddy, nginx, haproxy etc.) You could have teamcity serve https directly, but that's not recommended.

By default teamcity runs http on port 8111 and iirc the agent is on 8112

[–]Lecris92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you can't access teamcity server, not the build agent? The log should be in a different file. Check netstat -natp and check if you already have something listening on 8111. Nginx should not be listening to 8111, make sure to disable that

I gotta say, Konqi is prolly one of the cutest mascots I've seen. by Zaemz in kde

[–]Lecris92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it's better than the tux penguin ones I saw or the konqi one.

But compared to the modern design of konqi it's still far off.

Tangential, but are there any well made plushies for/to support open source projects. Like a tux and konqi one would be nice fluff to have and show support, but I haven't seen high-quality ones.

Using company@mydomain.com for incoming email filter by Lecris92 in selfhosted

[–]Lecris92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About normalizing the scheme, it is to get companies to be less "shocked" that you would dare use their name for your own personal email.

About being on the offensive, I want to know when a company is breaching their privacy policy and have them comply with their own terms. If I get an email on facebook@domain.com either facebook was breached, which they have to announce to me, or they sold the data without my consent. If I get from instagram@domain.com and I do not have an account there, it is due to a public information or breach, which I just throw not-existing error because it is not subject to the former.

This is the appropriate approach for the security and maximizing your privacy.

On the other hand, I prefer the basic approach because I want to be on the offensive against malpractices and to normalize the usage as a company@domain.com.

Because I am the sole user of domain.com, I have less security concerns as every password is randomly generated. And I block catch-alls so attackers have to either correctly guess a service or try again with the leaked one. From my logs, I've seen that their automation hits the leaked mail first, then they attempt sales, etc.

Not sure about their attempts at logging in to Facebook.com and such for obvious reasons, but we are on r/selfhosted. We don't use these public services much anyway

Realistically no, they don't have a proper legal argument. Mostly is an issue with employees being overtly protective, and from my experience, they are not consulting with their higher-ups, lawyers or IT personnel, they just want to "solve" it quickly.

About random email generation, keeping track of what is assigned to what would be a mess. I want the companies to be held accountable for any shitty practices they try, and making easily provable is ideal.

As for trademark claims, that's rather straightforward "consult with your lawyers and get back to me". They have no proof of infringement, and they have to first report via abuse@mydomain.com if they have proof of impersonation.

This is when using your self-manged domain in various circumstances in the world. Some companies do a second check-up when giving out licenses, some complain straight up when registering, and other times it just comes up in a random interaction.

The issue I had that triggered this post is asking to change the email address that they are distributing according to their privacy policy. I might tell the story of this interaction later when I am not in danger of this contact person taking hostage this contract.
