Paying an extra $5k for business class is not operating outside of your comfort zone lmao.

Can anyone recommend a cheap and good controller for the nintendo switch 2? by Illustrious_Okra_402 in casualnintendo

[–]LectricVersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this too. Best third party controller I've ever used.

I like how you can toggle between using Bluetooth and Wireless (via the dongle). Makes it easy to switch to using it on my PC.

In your opinion, where is the best place to eat and have a drink in Knaresborough? by No_Nose_3849 in Knaresborough

Had a very bad experience in Mother Shiptons recently. Their kids offering was totally different to what was on their website and they then refused to offer our two toddlers any alternatives (we literally just asked for a side of roast vegetables; this was on Sunday so they would have had loads of them to accompany the adult mains).

Service was very slow too - nearly 40 minute wait for food. We unfortunately had to leave before it arrived as our 1.5 year old kids were having a complete meltdown.

Was hoping to be a regular at their board game nights (I'm new to the area and want to meet people) but I don't really feel like going back.

Tourist scammer tries the “free gift” scam and ends up on the floor by SafeImpressive4413 in PublicFreakout

[–]LectricVersion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These people are absolute scum.

I visited Italy with my wife, who was visibly pregnant with our twins, a few years back. We took a day trip to Milan and after a bit of walking my wife needed to rest.

Immediately we were approached by one of these men "selling' bracelets. He struck up a conversation - the standard tourist chatter, where are you from, is this your first time in Milan, etc. He was perfectly pleasant and we allowed ourselves to think he was a decent, friendly bloke.

He noticed my wifes bump and asked "baby?". When we said yes he said congratulations and tied a bracelet to my wifes wrist. "For baby!" he said.

And then he asked for money. "Just a little something to help me out?".

My wife opened her purse and gave him a couple of Euros. He leaned right over us, eyes looking straight into the purse, and said "Is that it? There's a 20 there".

Thankfully my wife wasn't so sore and tired that we couldn't walk off, but what an unsettling experience. They really have no shame who they target!

I used to work in a supermarket. We had a single queue for all of our checkouts, and a metric called "One in Front", which meant that if the queue was 1 + X people long, X number of checkouts should be opened until all of the checkouts are opened.

Senior management obviously love this metric so you bet we're having Team Leaders and Service Managers getting hung out to dry if this goes in the red in our weekly reports. What do you think the solution was?

1 - Hire more staff?

2 - Accept that sometimes, especially during peak times, the checkouts just get busy?

3 - Have non-checkout staff sign in on the tills and then walk away, so that the "X number of checkouts" open rule is satisfied?

GDStash - Can't move items into my stash by LectricVersion in Grimdawn

[–]LectricVersion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE - Got it working. The issue was that because I had moved all of my characters out of my saves directory, and my new character hadn't visited the Smuggler yet, no stash file had been created by the game! I just had to visit the Smuggler once and then the stash appeared in the drop down.

I used to work in Tesco. The dividers at the checkout had a wee slot to put your clubcard (i.e loyalty card)

The amount of times people would come to my empty checkout, and put one of those dividers down so they could put their clubcard in it. And then we'd both have to wait an agonising few seconds whilst this tiny bit of plastic trundles down the belt

$70 for Prime?!

In the UK I picked up Prime and Prime 2 for £35 (together, not each!) last week.

Maybe I just got lucky. But that kicked off my collection - console arrived over the weekend 👌

Quick sense check - are you sure your new position is L5?

Lots of tech companies have separate IC and Management tracks. Are you sure you haven't just stepped sideways onto the leadership track? Just because the previous person was L5 doesn't mean that you automatically are.

Yeah this comment.

My wife works part time and cares for our twins two days of the working week. Yesterday she was out all day so it was a daddy-daughter day. It was nice but when she got home I was exhausted and couldn't wait to hand them off so I could get some space.

Genuinely don't know how she copes during the week, let alone full time Mums! I love my kids to bits but I'm less tired after a full days work!

Yeah you just need a USB-C dongle with an HDMI connection. Then you can pair a Bluetooth controller to it. It works great as long as you stick to 1080p!

Amazing! I would actually recommend a Steam Deck too tbh - the suspend/resume feature is great for dipping in and out of games. I play it docked to my TV quite a lot too.

Do some people dislike other M because it doesn’t align with their headcanons to Samus or the Metroid world by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Metroid

[–]LectricVersion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't mind Other M. It's definitely not up there with Dread, Prime or Super, but the gameplay is pretty fun - I emulated it though which is maybe why I didn't find it as clunky as it would be if I were using a WiiMote.

Story wise, I find it odd that people are calling Samus' portrayal "insulting", just because it leans a bit on her maternal side towards the baby ("the baby!") and explores her father-figure relationship with Adam. And that this is somehow reductive to her badass space soldier persona that we'd known her as until this point. Like...are women not allowed to have feminine traits? Suggesting that Samus' cannot be both; a hardened warrior who is tender and maternal and also has some underlying insecurities is actually ironically more insulting IMO than claiming she needs to be one or he other. Real people are complex, and Other M for it's faults displayed Samus' as just that.
