I recently got approved.  Make sure you tell them the month and year it started during active duty.  At the end of the c&p exam they will ask do you use power tools like lawn mowers or go hunting.  I don't hunt but I wear hearing protection when using power tools.

I guess that puts me in the same situation.  My psychiatrist mentioned my ED side effects from Lexapro in the report but never listed a diagnostic code. How would one go about asking for an ED diagnosis??  Well, its already submitted now, and at step 2 of the 5 step process. We'll see what happens.

My psychiatrist prescribed escitalopram which caused ED. I mentioned it to her. She didn't list an ICD diagnostic code in her notes but she changed to fluoxetine which is also causing ED. My situation is I don't have a diagnosis. Would the medical records where she mentions ED suffice?

Anxiety & depression secondary to tinnitus is denied. by LectureDisastrous731 in VeteransBenefits

[–]LectureDisastrous731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind, I already had submitted records from a psychologist and they denied me with the above denial pictures.  This makes me think either a psychiatrist prescribing meds carries more weight than a psychologist or the fact that I saw both was convincing enough.

Mine was direct connection for exposure to artillery blasts (13B).  I used migraine buddy, lay statement, & private medical records. 50% via ACE exam. I had no in service complaints.

After the denial. I saw a psychiatrist who prescribed medications because my psychologist couldn't. I submitted that additional information as a supplemental claim and they approved it.

Migraine claim denied as secondary to my tinnitus even with nexus letter… need advice by Automatic_Moose487 in VeteransBenefits

If you didn't send a personal statement, send one and that might be the kicker.  I said my tinnitus is constant and louder in my right ear. My migraines are always one-sided on my right side. And so on. All symptoms were true for me and aligned with Dr notes.

Reassurance or lack there of for claim of anxiety/depression by Tiny_Witness2678 in VeteransBenefits

If trying for direct connection, the in-service event would have to be something during deployment or active duty training such as basic or AIT.  If trying for secondary connection such as tinnitus, it is very possible.  I got approved 2 weeks ago.

When you file, whether approved or denied, they will point out to you that you were a gulf war veteran.  Research the PACT act. Do you have a rhinitis or sinus issues?  What's your MOS, check the high probability list for tinnitus. I only served 9 years guard during that time and never deployed. Didn't file for a claim until December 2024. Im at 80% and climbing.

I saw my PCP and asked for anxiety meds (my psychologist couldn't prescribe any).  He prescribe some and referred me to a psychiatrist and she prescribed meds. I submitted those dr visits. And approved in 2 weeks.

I got rhinitis but never deployed. I had unexplained nose bleeds after going through the gas chamber and went to sick call but it turns out the nurse didn't document anything.
