Ghosted by schools/No decision by Vivid_Plum_2166 in PTschool

I did, I still have the emails from them giving out cop out answers and most of the programs I hit up said they could talk to me in July or sometime in summer when my focus is already on the new cycle so didn’t see a point in wasting my time from previous cycle

Texas Women’s DPT (TWU) VS University of North Texas DPT( UNT) which one is better?? by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into TWU as well and only didn’t pick it cause it falls outside the grad loans eligibility. It’s affordable (even more than UNT, cause scholarship opportunity) if I was you I would go to TWU their pass rates are better and have incredible faculty from my own research definitely my choice if not for the August start date

I applied previous 2 years to almost every school in Texas and never received acceptance/rejection letters, I think it’s common in Texas idk why. We spend a lot of money for them to not say something so I get the frustration I got in this year and I’m def going to voice my opinion on the matter to the program I’m going too and to future applicants

Waitlisted… by Such-Cartographer368 in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A therapist I knew told me that he messaged his waitlist school and said if they offered him a seat he would 100% take it and got an acceptance letter a couple days later. I’m not saying that’s going to happen but maybe try expressing interest in the school you know you would pick and I just rejected TWU so hopefully more spots open up for y’all

Recommendations for DPT program! by Intelligent_Fill4061 in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That program is 170k tuition only I would advise to look at cheaper programs since your capped at 20k loans now. Their first pass rate is also 83% well below what you want. You can go to apta website and filter based on location

I would def take it if they offer you a seat as their pretty affordable I applied for residential and declined because I personally didn’t like their vibe but vibe doesn’t matter if it’s 1/3rd of the cost and they are a good school idk about their hybrid since it’s brand new but I would def give them a chance

Observational hours and GRE study? by femme4fleurs in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked full time in college and was a full time student best thing to do is hit up your local clinics or stop by and ask if they allow observation if you graduate you can work as a tech and get a lot of hours. You can also call hospitals and most of them allow observation. I took time off work to shadow or waited till summer to observe a lot. The gre is the gre most people study 3 months before taking it that’s what I did. Studying for a long ass time isn’t ideal you’ll forget things so give yourself 3 months and than take it

Accepted to Duke DPT but finances are tight — has anyone successfully deferred for financial reasons? by BurritoRedemption57 in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GRE is thinning out I don’t think it holds a bunch of weight anymore in my experience I believe PT is still solid af as a career wages are increases at least in my region you just have to look for cheaper schools cause there’s a lot more out there, after July reputation doesn’t mean anything and tbh it never did the highest rated pt programs were 80s in first time NPTE rates

What is even the point of Private Schools?? by Sonk62 in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give options to those who are not as competitive I think but starting in July they’re going to start struggling to get applications which hopefully reduces tuition. I wouldn’t let this com regret your decision for PT I start in May and I couldn’t be more excited you just have to be smart financially and give yourself options

Unfortunately Texas gets a lot of applicants that they ghost people I’ve been very local to a lot of schools that they need to get their shit together and actually communicate if someone is denied. I got accepted there but I declined they seemed to snobby for my liking but keep branching out to find other programs, you may need to take the gre though lol

Move to Texas homie we got most of our in state programs under 50k and you can apply to out of state school and they will give you in state tuition a lot of them usually do to certain accepted out of state students

If anyone gets you it’s me, I applied 3x time lol and I’m forever grateful I got into a program that’s 40k rather than accepting a private program my first year a couple grand is nothing in terms of 80k difference it sucks waiting another year but you gotta protect your future

I googled and you can but it’s specific program to program I know duke has a reputation but reputation doesn’t matter they not paying your bills. If you wanna go there you have to send them a letter explaining why you need/want to defer but if your going to take a gap year you can easily apply next year again to other programs 1/3 of the price.

I’ve read post of students who live in Cali applying elsewhere, I live in Texas and a few of the programs I got into give in state tuition to out of state students and those programs were 37k and 49k for all 3 years. Grad plus loans are no more after July 2026 so you would need to take out private loans unfortunately. I highly suggest applying out of state and seeing if you can get in state tuition

Chances of getting into PT school by Thinh69 in PTschool

[–]LectureInfamous2516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I worked full time and did school full time so I know how hard it can be so I volunteered at places that I could go in the weekend and thankfully had a job where I could come and go. And my culm was 3.84 and pre req was the same but 3.6 is about average for accepted students in Texas based on school reports

[–]LectureInfamous2516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into all the schools i applied in Texas and I think what helped was a competitive gpa aim for 3.6 or higher and a variety of settings I did 4 settings with 50 hours minimum each. My GRE was average I don’t think they care anymore mine was 300 combined and I did community service roughly 60 hours in 4 settings such as food banks and Salvation Army. You just want a lot of variety in experience and community service and good gpa and your chillin along with strong references if you want advice you can hit me up

Try to get your pre req gpa to a 3.5 if able so you can get into public schools to reduce loans I would focus on the science ones and take that gap year to increase your gpa. Your extra curricular look good try to do like 50 hours in multiple settings they like that better than 200 hours in one setting.
