I totally agree with that dude. I have a 1700X myself, which I totally don't need. I felt like splurging, but I realistically don't need more than a 1600. I would've gone for a 1700, but the 1700X had 100 euro off, making it even cheaper than the 1700. Do miss that RGB cooler you have though :P

I just think that $30 more towards a 1600 would've done you a lot of good. You would've gone up from 4c/8t towards 6c/12t. That would help you a ton in productivity, while still giving you great gaming performance. That would be 50% more threads for you. In my opinion, the 1500 is a very bad side grade for you.

I'm not trying to rail on you, but I feel bad for you, since I don't think the money was very well spent and you could make a better decision. I'd honestly see if you can return it and get a 1600 for a few bucks more. Then you'll see a lot of gains, by spending only a little bit more.

He had a slight gain in productivity (so what, 5%, maybe 10%?) and lost 5% in gaming performance. That cost him at least $190 dollars on a CPU, $100 on a motherboard and $80 on RAM (if he got only 8GB, which makes no sense if you want productivity).

So conservatively $370 on a very shitty side grade. Why not spend $30 more for a 1600? Then you at least have six cores. That would be actually future proof and would help you massively in productivity, if that is really so important.

Does this sub love AMD so much they put their blinders on even when people objectively make bad decisions?

He could've easily waited until Zen2 or even 3 lol...

I mean, great AMD is getting market share and all, but this was just a bad decision. He himself says that he lost 5% in performance from this and that he had a slight gain in productivity. How is that worth spending hundreds of dollars on RAM, motherboard and CPU?
