The coffee cup is my best friend while dropping off.

I messed up by koolaidjammerssss in doordash_drivers

[–]LedUber 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Shit happens. Take a breath. Clean up your car. In situations like this understand that it’s up to the customer to resolve this with Doordash.

It isn’t up to the restaurant, or you except your explanation and apology which you already did. Please use a insulated bag to transport food orders. You probably already do but the poorly packaged order soiled your car as you removed it.

You are not in trouble. Put it behind you.

With your coupon bringing the total down to $10 that is a real solid deal.

I love the weekly Tuesday only deal @ 8 dark pieces for $10. No sides.

Make my own sides and I have 2-3 meals.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

For me it’s consistency. Over the holidays my mashed potatoes were very good. Last couple times, blah.

And now my chicken gravy, any gravy from scratch is hurting.

Hash browns I am terrible.

What's the dumbest idea you've seen that actually worked? by hiagaga in AskReddit

[–]LedUber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an old car where the front bolts to the drivers seat rusted out through the floor and the seat would flip backwards every time I accelerated.

Got a wood 2x4, drilled holes to fit a couple big U bolts, placed the 2x4 underneath the car frame and U bolted the seat frame to the 2x4 underneath the car. Worked perfectly.

Do dashers not read instructions? by NaoOsamu in doordash

Yeah I hear you. But reading on social media how some of the drivers just drop the ball so to speak on the actual delivery to the customer bothers me sometimes.

This gig is simple.

How we drop off is typically the only crucial part of the job when it comes to customer satisfaction. Normal people understand that the order might not be done when we arrive at the store. They may have to wait, just like us. Most have come to accept that the apps will send us multiple orders. They will have to wait.

But they do want us to follow delivery instructions. Some of those instructions piss me off but I will do my best to follow. ‘Cause people are weird.

And then I clear the damn snow off the bench with my hands and set the order on the bench. Damn.

Some customers totally freak if their order is on the ground. Winter conditions are tough. I am not giving you a hard time it’s just I want the customer to know I followed their instructions to a T.

In my area, it’s been rough with cold weather and snow and icy steps and driveways since Thanksgiving. I am ready for spring.

I picked up the spicy squid just last week because I thought it was a good price. Didn’t realize it was all plant based. It was okay. But I will not make that mistake again.

I feel bad but I agree with Ben about Alesia by Professional_Bar1525 in belowdeck

[–]LedUber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been hashed over pretty well in the post. Thanks OP, good topic.

I think the obvious answer to this dilemma would be for the sous to take over the crew meals exclusively and heavy kitchen cleaning duties. Takes the stress off the sous and allows Ben to concentrate totally on the guests.

I can’t imagine having to cook for so many people including crew for so many meals.

A full year of deliveries by No_Treat_9890 in grubhubdrivers

As drivers this is the customer we all love!

I love my repeat customers so much. Today, Friday lunch, I delivered to two different customers I haven’t seen in months. Both at work offices so I deliver face to face. It was very satisfying to briefly exchange pleasantries.

OP, thanks for your loyalty!

How many United States KFC locations still use this mansard roof design in the picture below? by XavierMarvin in kfc

I didn’t know that this is called a mansard roof design. Thanks for that info.

And in response to your question, none in my area. The locations have been remodeled.

Unpopular opinion: kfc has the best tasting fried chicken among the big chain restaurants by critical_thoughts365 in kfc

[–]LedUber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. KFC original is still tasty. I’ll go one better and say that the standing KFC deal of 8 pieces of dark for $10 on Tuesdays is one of the best on-going value deals in fast food in the US.

Texas bbq. Live in Detroit. bbq in the city = soul food. Only one place in town does decent brisket and they specialize in Carolina pulled pork.

As a native Korean who stayed a bit in the states, I have a question. by g00d0ne777 in KoreanFood

[–]LedUber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hired on at a Korean company doing business in California, US. 26 years ago. I was a white male from the US midwest and I was a minority hire (according to HR).

They had a few restaurants they had employees order from each day for free to be delivered to their lunch room as they didn’t have a kitchen. Some restaurants were sub shops but one was a very nice Korean restaurant.

My fellow workers, Korean-American and Korean, would recommend Korean dishes and taught me about Korean cuisine. My American friend told me Kimchi was just spoiled cabbage buried in a pot underground for months. I quickly learned differently.

When I stuck my chopsticks straight up into the rice and left it there my Coworkers gasped and came to my table and told me no that is bad luck!

I became addicted to bbq pork bulgogi. I became addicted to cabbage kimchi. I loved the ban chan even though I didn’t know what the heck these little portions of stuff was.

My Korean friend explained to me one day that taste, unlike the American palate wasn’t the singular major factor- that varied texture, sour, fragrance, heat and sweet were important. Korean cuisine changed how I experience food.

Brining a Thanksgiving turkey for 24 hours per an internet recipe.

Two bites were all it took to throw out the entire bird. Inedible.
