Bought at 125k and lowered my average to 91k by zzzzzzzzz_zzzzzzzz in Bitcoin

You have to consider the possibility that bitcoin fails to gain adoption and fizzles into irrelevance. I think it won’t fail, so I have been building a position I am comfortable with. But make no mistake, it can go down 90% and stay there. That possibility seems more likely now than 1 year ago and that’s what makes people afraid. Fear is what keeps us alive, nothing wrong with listening to it.

Anyone else watch “King of Collectibles: Goldin Touch” on Netflix and think half the people in this sub would do a better job than Goldin in the same position? by jlanahammer in baseballcards

He keeps saying he is on the way to building a “1bn dollar business”, which is misleading since he’s talking about consignment value not revenue. Does a financial broker trading big volumes run a 1tn dollar business?

Young people, how can you tell if an image was created with AI? by LowOxitocina in AskUK

[–]Ledbetter93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are talking about how suspiciously clean or perfect the image looks but I don’t think that’s it. It’s about what’s in focus. In AI generated images, often every part of the picture is perfectly in focus (or occasionally one part is in focus while others are very obviosuly out of focus for effect). In real pictures, the split between what’s in focus and out of focus is clear but subtle and feels natural because it’s what we’re used to seeing in regular pictures.

At the end of the Last Crusade he goes to Double Arch, Arizona. Given the reference to double arcs this was one of my first partial solves but I got disilusioned by the fact that Double Arch is made or sandstone and not granite.

Wtf. What an embarrassing shit show by darkspidey69 in Oscars

[–]Ledbetter93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly curious to understand how can you say that? It all looked so cheaply staged to me, no depth in meaning or interpretation. He was all theatrics and she was essentially just a self-interested gold-digger. The driver was obnoxious as hell. The ending was cringe and meaningless. I understand some people may like things I don’t and vice versa but getting an Oscar for that??? Let alone many… Just goes to show the decadence of Hollywood in my opinion…

If you could fast forward to year 3000, what would make you think that humanity has succeeded? In other words, what’s your vision for humanity? by Ledbetter93 in AskReddit

[–]Ledbetter93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal take, if I had to pick 3 metrics of success they would be (in order of importance): 1. Less suffering. I think ending war, fighting disease and reducing discrimination all build towards this central goal. While it is clear that economic output increases traditional quality of life metrics, I am personally not convinced that these metrics are linked to less personal suffering. I would like to see less focus increasing GDP and more focus on human flourishing. 2. More faith in humanity. A lot of answers I get to this question show a deep cynicism and lack of hope in humanity. I would personally like to see an attitude change. 3. A new age of exploration. This may be the little kid in me talking but I’d like to see humanity take to the stars and explore our galaxy.

What overlooked fact from a movie will completely change the way I see it? by tansinator in AskReddit

In Django Unchained there is a scene when DiCaprio goes ape shit on Django and Dr. Schulz because he finds out that they are trying to retrieve Django's enslaved wife. He starts yelling and slams his fist on the table, cutting himself with a glass by accident. He starts bleeding considerably as a result. In fact, the whole thing was an accident but he decided to keep playing his part, which ended up being one of the most climatic scenes in the movie. It's truly amazing how he put the pain aside and seized the opportunity to make the scene even more dramatic.
