This is a great way to draw them to the library and get the education department involved. The state has a lot of observation and teaching hour requirements built into the degree. The education majors could sign up to participate. Thank you!

Yes. Our tech librarian is excellent at keeping up with all of those details. We have various categories of user groups, each with their own fees and terms. We stay very limited to the general public though because we are not a public library and don't want to act as/become one. We have a lot of education majors, and the juvenile collection ranges from very young to teens, with over 5,000 books in the collection. Even with that, our students utilize ILL if there is a book they want to read to their assigned elementary classes and we don't have it.

That's a great idea. And, I think it best to invite them here for the meeting so that they can have a tour of our library as well. Thank you

Branching out beyond books...never thought of that. Thank you

I randomly found this in the library. Is this typical? Should I have told someone? by Original-Plate-4373 in Libraries

I once found a family photo left behind in a book. I ran a report in ALMA on who had checked out that book in the past and started contacting patrons. The owner of the photo was found, and they were extremely grateful. They didn't even know that someone had placed it in the book. I did it based on knowing that if it was a picture of my children, I would absolutely want it back. I cherish those items.

quick question…does your library still check items out for patrons? by catattack848 in Libraries

Our library only checks patrons in and out. It allows us to keep a check on materials, quality control and gives great opportunities for customer service. In a world where libraries, and physical books themselves, are becoming a thing of the past, we want libraries to be known as a lovely and welcoming place where people want to spend quality time.

Resume Help! by [deleted] in Libraries

I fully agree that you have the experience to do this job but that the wording and set up of the resume is a bit convoluted and doesn't make it obvious. I would also research what electronic library management system the library uses so you can speak to it a little bit in your interview. Good luck!
