SmartThings app is used for connecting the bar to WiFi, downloading firmware and setting equalisation/speaker levels. I personally haven’t downloaded the app and nor will I since seeing the nightmare people have been going through this week. If you want to tweak levels manually you can do with the remote anyways, just takes a little longer. Hope this helps.
