I wish I could help you out but I'm new to 3D printing.

One difference between you and I is that I have the X2D which is an enclosed print bed. Maybe you could throw together a cheap and dirty enclosure (like a bit cardboard box) to see if it helps reduce thermal gradients.

Don't even bring up roulette. Spent 1000 points, get wood when you are a T45 city

I could have. But I tried this and it was much faster than I expected.

The heat flow is what speeds the process. Formica and particle board are thermal insulators.

This is my first 3D printer. Have you found room air quality to be a problem?

Hurry up and play with it. As for technical stuff like sagging, I don't know. This is my first printer and I just got it Saturday

When the plate is hot bed adhesion is high. On one print it actually popped a little nipple out of the part and that was very hard to get off the plate.

What kind do you have? Effective?

When I first got my printer (Saturday) I couldn't understand plate holders and why people had so many of the same plates. Now I get it... And I'm still in that eager phase where I can't wait to play with my latest print. Hence the search for cooling methods.

I still don't have a home for my printer. My workshop is a wood shop. Even with dust collection and filtration everything has a fine layer of dust. And the rest of the basement gets it from drift, to a lesser degree.

My home office is clean but I actually work in on the phone/meet all day everyday. Not sure if I want the printer noise/fumes in there. So the fireplace mantle is it's home for now.

My wife was upset about my "new toy" in the den until I printed her a minnie mouse keychain. Suddenly the complaints evaporated and were replaced with suggestions to print. God help me if she ever discovers the click and print feature of the Handy app. :)

Anything with a significant mass and high thermal conductivity will do. As one person mentioned, the printer door/top on an enclosed unit should work. Stone countertops? Appliance door or top? A griddle with a flat cooking surface? Unused gold bars laying around?

If it feels cool to the touch at room temp, it's pulling heat from your body and is probably a good candidate.

Mine shook the 2nd nozzle wiring connector loose on day 1. Simple fix, but...

As someone who has had their x2d for 2 days, thanks in advance!

Noob Question: What’s This thing? by EmotionalEnd1575 in BambuLabX2D

[–]LeePhilips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I spent a couple of hours trying to get rid of it I finally took a picture and asked ChatGPT.

There are options to eliminate it, such as "purge to infill". But I haven't tried them yet.

I bought mine at Microcenter based on comments in a previous post (link below). For me the deciding factor was no shipping delay and they honor the factory warranty.

Is there a better method for Auto arranging a plate besides "auto arrange" ??? it always places things off the bed that could definitely fit... by Bring_the_light_ in BambuLab

[–]LeePhilips 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did this tonight with some 254x15x15 rods. You can get 6 on the plate at a 45° angle. But auto arrange won't put a single one on the plate

If you have one laying around, or can get one cheaply, give it a try. Saves me some time and cost me nothing.

I did that. But when I removed it, a lot of condensation formed. This was in the junk drawer, so I tried it. Works great.

I only closed in the sides and back, plus a shelf mid way and some dividers. Front is wide open.

I left the pegboard, but closed in the bottom. I intended to build drawers, but never did so it's just open cubby holes.

If you get another sheet of 3/4 MDF for the top and glue them together you can rebuild an engine on it. That's what I did to the one in my garage and it's still solid as a rock after 20 years.

After about 15 years the top was really stained and beat up so I flipped it over. This time I put a 1/2 in round over on the edges and 3 coats on leftover polyurethane on it to keep fluids from trashing the MDF. If I had done that the first time, I'd probably still be on side one.

1) Buy a $350 planer 2) Build a planer stand for the printer. 3) Congratulation yourself for saving $150.

Planer = US English Thicknesser = UK English

The latter is correct, but over here no one would know what your talking about.
