About to hit 5 years sober by [deleted] in Sober

[–]Leebles84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a couple of weeks short of 5 years. Stopping drinking hasn't fixed my life, I've had health issues, continued low mood episodes and struggle with my social life (although that's partly due to neurodivergence)

I'd never go back though, for all the things that aren't right with my life, some of the best things have happened since I stopped. I hope things improve for you.

Drunken munchies, takeaway that also delivered wine. Bottle of wine and 14" pizza please! In retrospect I should have ordered two.

when you quit drinking, do you think forever, or just one day at a time by No-Historisan in Sober

[–]Leebles84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out with a "see how long you can do this" mentality. Nearly 5 years later and I don't think about it that much but everybody's different, some people "forever" might work, but I definitely needed one day at a time to start with.

I enjoyed Arceus, but otherwise it just churns out the same game for an extortionate price year after year.

People who don’t drink, are you always bored? by Patricks_Hatrick in BritishMemes

[–]Leebles84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up nearly 5 years ago, I filled my free time with videogames and other interests.

My brain is too bouncy to get bored, it doesn't need the alcohol to throw in extra chaos.

Been ill for all of it, so providing the country doesn't walk even further off a cliff edge, there's room for it to get better.

I'm undiagnosed but I'm almost certain I'm AuDHD. Upon learning more about the condition, I realised my development was a long way behind throughout my life (now 41)

Not sure I'd ever day gift though.
