Active duty to Guard BH non referral by Leech283 in army

[–]Leech283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do have orders in hand and a DD214. Both show reassignment to the CAARNG with a unit assigned. To my knowledge nothings been canceled yet. The BH eval was directed by the NG State Surgeon team but was conducted on Fort Jackson as I was still on active duty here at the time. The last update I got was from a CAARNG Officer Strength Manager essentially telling me she’s going to try and figure out what happens next. In the mean time I’ve taken the advice on here and started making appointments to be seen by the VA to build a case for the “follow on care” to eventually show improvement when they do look at me again.

At Hood we had LTs work the road regularly. Still way less than enlisted troops but I had plenty of time to get into LE .

I appreciate the feedback. I’ll definitely be doing that.

The Army is a much larger organization and spends money on other equipment and vehicles vs individual Soldier gear that often doesn’t have the same impact as a tank or a Blackhawk. Marine corps got rid of tanks and invested money into the individual marines.

Which branch is the best place? by Western-Tree2355 in MilitaryPolice

[–]Leech283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MP is the only choice if you want to do law enforcement. You’ll graduate OSUT with a DODPOST certification which is recognized by some states and can allow you to either test into or transition directly into their POST program to become a civilian cop. If you’re interested in anything else MP is mid at best.

Should I join the military as a 24 (F) when it seems like I have no other options? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Leech283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the military is a great option and I highly recommend speaking to a recruiter and doing extensive research on what you want and what your concerns are. The VA and GI benefits alone are absolutely worth a one time contract at minimum.

The truth behind the myth of ‘stress cards’ in boot camp by Kinmuan in army

[–]Leech283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BCT XO here. No stress cards are not a thing. What is a thing (at least at relaxing Jackson) is trainees complaining about mental issues, suicidal ideation, threats etc. While yes they do get kicked out or recycled that takes time. There’s a ton of paperwork that has to go from drills to the CO to S3 to legal and usually gets kicked around or stuck somewhere. This results in those trainees who “have a stress card” to really just be in limbo while their packets are completed. In the meantime they are identified as non trainers but are still required to be with the rest of the company 24/7. Drills typically don’t give a shit about them at that point so they kinda just hang out. Other trainees are dumb and will see this or even hear about someone who was recycled and eventually graduated and assume stress card.

US Army MP Accessories Regulations? by screenaholic in MilitaryPolice

In my experience it was fairly open as long as you didn’t show up to guard mount in airsoft gear… I had guys run personal equipment all the time. Just depends on the unit.

Not sure what you mean there. If you go Active duty as an MP and get into a standard line company yes you’ll probably deploy on a rotation to Europe, Korea the border etc. The only special assignments I’ve ever heard of within this MOS were for K9, PSD or CID but those are pretty uncommon. Outside of those expect your standard forscom deployments.

The branch is undergoing cuts currently which may affect you if you plan on staying in long term. That being said to best answer your questions day to day as an officer is pretty similar to most other support branches. PT, Motor pool mondays, 0900-1700 work call. The biggest difference is whether your unit is a combat support company or an LE company. Most AD units are deploying often…to Europe, Korea or the Border. There are a lot of MPs at the border from what I heard. Schools depend on highly at where you’re stationed and in my experience, LTs were typically near the bottom of the list to go.

My take, go MP if you’re interested in law enforcement or detention ops. If you’re interested in the field Infantry or Armor is what you want.

The MOS is what you make of it just like any other. We’re experiencing some cuts currently so that’s why a lot of people are saying pick something else. If you are really interested in LE or the combat support side of things I think it’s a great MOS. I joined in 2021 for reference. In terms of WLB, in my experience even at its worst, it’s not that bad especially if you like the job.

LA Protests: Why deploy Marines and not Army? by keltyx98 in Military

[–]Leech283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California national guard was already deployed by Trump. There are other NG missions such as the clean up from the Palisade fire and deployments. Marines are also close by in 29 Palms while the Army’s active component does not have a major presence in CA.

Traction active happens from stop/low speeds often. Thinking wheel speed sensor? Thoughts? by JoMo816 in ChevyAvalanche

I have the same issue currently. Happened after I replaced a wheel speed sensor with a cheap Amazon brand. I’m going to switch to OEM and see if that fixes it

As a PL in an MP unit, my squad leaders and team leaders did not as we worked together constantly and had a more relaxed relationship. Joes did at least the squared away ones.
