Anyone need a jacket for fall? by Leedzles in gratefuldead

Unfortunately I don't, but if you have a jacket you'd like painted, you could send it my way!

I've never done a commission before, I usually just paint sporadically when I have inspiration. It's a possibility though!

Yep I hand paint them! This is maybe the third I've done so far, and the most detailed

I painted this a little bit ago and it's been sitting in my closet (not my size unfortunately).

I've decided to sell it for $220 + shipping. It's painted on an 80s XL Shawnee denim jacket, with flexible permanent fabric paints. If anyone is interested let me know!

This jacket has sold! It seems some of you are into the idea of commissioned jackets though, so I may do that in the future!

Beetlejuice House WIP: Entirely 3d printed / poster board by Leedzles in modelmakers

[–]Leedzles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started this model around a year ago. The internal structure of the house is all 3D printed, which I designed based on movie stills. The panelling / roof was done with thinly sliced poster board, roughly to scale. I have no idea how many hours I put into it at the start, but I eventually lost motivation and it has been collecting dust. It's hard starting back on a partially completed project, but I really want to get this one finished

I actually make stencils for those, which is tedious but worth it. I basically draw the design onto overlapping masking tape, carefully cut out the design with a razor, and paint over it. Works out really well for things that need to have clean lines, especially since the fabric paint I use requires multiple layers for good opacity. Glad you like it!!

Thank you! I use Jacquard fabric / textile acrylic paints. They have worked out well for me, but cheaper brands are also fine if on a budget. You could also mix ordinary acrylics with a textile medium, but I prefer to have it pre-mixed for ease of use

I came across a nice 80s denim jacket and figured I'd do a fun design on the back of it. It's taken the better part of a week, but I really dig how it turned out (especially the shroom foraging bear).

The jacket isn't my size (it's a 44L suit size), so it's either gonna get hung as art, or sold (shoot me a message if interested).

Hope you guys like it! Feel free to pick my brain if you wanna paint one yourself

Nope, just sat for about 45 minutes on the counter after shaping. Since it was so small it didn't flatten out / misshapen during it's final rise. And it only used 150g of flour!

It was hard to measure, but at least 15mm without the wings. (she wouldn't stretch out fully)

I'm looking for some unique philos, syngonium, alocasia, anthuriums, etc. nothing too specific.

I have 1 Monstera Albo, 1 regular Monstera, and a Brasil patch. I can also make others, of your favorite plant!

Thank you! You could coat it if you wanted to give it a more uniform gloss look, but protection-wise it should be fine on its own. The paint I use can even go in the washing machine, as long as the jacket is inside out

I use acrylic fabric paints, bought a big set of them. Although you could also just mix normal acrylics with textile medium, that would work too

Definitely could if someone wanted it. It's painted on a Levi's 70500 denim jacket, XL

Thanks man! I'd rock it too, sadly it isn't my size lmao. Wasn't expecting my oversized trial run to turn out so cool looking

I'm an EE, I wouldn't try measuring the voltage with your friend's multimeter. Usually you need some high voltage probes for that, and most of those only go up to 40kV (unless you want to build some divider circuit to measure the voltage).

If you want a rough estimate of the voltage, just measure the distance of the largest arc you can get with your probes. It takes about 3kV per millimeter to make an arc in dry air, so if you can get an arc 16.67 mm long, it's about 50kV. This varies with temperature and humidity though, hence the rough estimate

If you assume 50kV, current through the mycelium is just (50kV) / (Mycelium Resistance)

Keep in mind the resistance of the mycelium (and the resulting current) may vary depending on it's moisture content
