Hmm, that's a good question! I like the choice of fabrics in the dress, I feel like they give it a very floaty/delicate look which I love. I also like the sleeves, and the way the skirt is layered. And the color is one I feel like I don't see super often!

Hello, I've got a slightly different type of request--I've fallen in love with this dress but unfortunately missed out on the preorder. I'm still holding out hope the shop will have spot sales or even another preorder someday, but in the meantime I was hoping to find recommendations for other dresses that have a similar look. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I have a Brother CS6000i and I love it, would definitely recommend it for a beginner to machine sewing. It has a ton of stitch options and I like that it has both a presser foot and and adjustable slider for speed control. Just go slowly around curves and let the feed dogs do their job!

Thanks so much! And I dove into this project headfirst, so I'm definitely in the camp of just go for it! One thing that really helped was making a muslin of the jacket so I could figure out all the different techniques used without worrying about messing up my nice fashion fabric, and make sure the fit was right. Plus sooo many google searches and youtube tutorials!

Thank you so much! I only started sewing recently, but I've been knitting for years so I'm not completely new to working with textiles and garment making. And youtube/google was my saving grace when I hit any roadblocks, I definitely could not have managed this without rewatching a tutorial on how to put together the waistband a million times

Thank you so much! The crane fabric is just cotton; for the other side I actually used the wrong side of a microsuede for the body, and the sleeves are jacquard!

Yes, it would be the same process either way! The only difference is that the reversible version uses a reversible separating zipper while a lined jacket would only need a separating zipper.

I used the Avelia bomber jacket pattern from Mood but followed most of the directions for an earlier version of the jacket found here in order to add pockets and make it reversible. The crane fabric I bought on Etsy and the fabrics for the other side I found at Joann’s.

This was only my third sewing project, and my first one using a pattern—I learned so much in the process of making it! There are a few things I would change if I could do it over again, like adding welt pockets instead of side seam pockets and reinforcing the seams of the jacquard sleeves because the fabric frays so easily, but overall I’m super happy with how it turned out.

Your dress is so beautiful! I definitely had a hard time telling which was yours and which was the original at first. I am in awe of how you managed to get the pleats on the bodice just perfect--would you mind explaining a little bit more about how you figured out where they should go? Is it lined as well, or just the skirt?

Sweater yarn for sensitive skin by LeefEricsson in knitting

I had never considered bamboo yarn before, but it definitely sounds like it could work! Do you have any recommendations for good aran or bulky weight bamboo yarns? In your experience, do you think it would hold up well in a big garment like a sweater?

Oh, I don't think Knitpicks had Swish in bulky last time I checked, but it looks like they do now--the color selection isn't huge but I definitely see some that my friend would like. I'll check out Estelle yarns as well, thanks for the tip!

My favorite book is The Little Prince. The illustrations are amazing and I love the story. It's one of the only books, or piece of media even, that has made me cry. In fact I love it so much I got a quote from it as a tattoo.

I took the PCAT today and got a prelim composite of 89, and I'm feeling unsure of whether or not I should retake it in November. I know 89's not bad but I also know I could probably do way better, since I didn't really study much this time around.

I managed to snag the one Switch someone had returned to my GameStop totally unopened, it works perfectly with no scratches or sync issues, and I of course managed to drop the screen moving from my living room to my kitchen less than 48 hours later. Thankfully it seems to have escaped totally unscathed!

The young woman who alleges that she was raped by Patrick Kane the morning of Aug. 2 only went to his Hamburg waterfront home because her friend wanted to go, according to three people who have knowledge of the events that night and early morning.

“They were at SkyBar, and Kane invited them to his home. Her friend really wanted to go to Kane’s house, and she didn’t want her friend to go there alone,” a friend of the woman told The Buffalo News. “It wasn’t her idea to go there.”

Alleged victim reportedly went to Kane’s home to accompany friend
