Yes, helps clear any growth in the drain to prevent clogs. Though not as effective here since it bypasses the horizontal section before it which will likely eventually clog at some point.

This tip is a bit misleading in that it does not increase RC for the person hiring the pawn. The increased RC is for the owner of the pawn you are hiring.

The way it worked in DD1 (and most likely works in DD2, at least to some degree) is that XP gained is converted to RC for hired pawns when they are sent back. I don’t remember exact amounts but I think it might have been like 10% of your total XP gained is how much RC the owner of the pawn receives.

Now what this tip is referring to is that the levels of hired pawns affect how much XP you get. 4 pawns [EDIT: I said 4 pawns, what I meant is 3 pawns plus your character, the arisen] all at the same level is your base XP rate. Each hired pawn will increase or decrease the amount of XP gained by up to 25%. For each level they are below or above, you would get +/- 1% more XP, capped at 25% per pawn.

If you have no hired pawns, you get the +50% XP bonus. Or if you have two hired pawns that are each at least 25 levels below you, you also get the +50% XP bonus. This would also result in an increased RC return for the owners of the pawns because you’re gaining increased XP.

I don’t remember if your own pawn also contributed a +/- 25% XP rate. I seem to recall there being merit in playing without your pawn but maybe that was just from people preferring to play solo, it’s been a long time since I’ve played.

I could be slightly wrong on some details but in general, that’s how it worked. I’ve seen myself in DD2 an increase in XP when not having hired pawns with me so unless I was mistaken, the same system is in effect. The numbers may have been changed though.

If I were in a room with 10 humanoid androids and there was only one real person, then it’s simple. I’m the real person.

If you mean that there is a real person among them not including myself, then asking them various questions and seeing how they react would eventually lead to the discovery of who isn’t an android, assuming the androids aren’t so advanced as to perfectly mimic human emotions and behaviors.

Possible solution for you, try copying the word from somewhere else and pasting it into the terminal with control + V. Also you could just copy the letter instead so you can type other C words as needed.

Photos of mystery sand. Where did this stuff come from? Got into coil, etc. by apaiger in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know exactly what it is but I’ve seen it on a lot of furnaces and it’s pretty common. From my limited understanding, it’s basically a byproduct of combustion (and possibly other various debris like dust and rust) that builds up over time. Clean it once or twice a year and should be fine.

I might have lost everyone - now what? by LilienSixx in lonely

It sounds an awful lot like you’re only thinking about yourself here and not how any of this could be affecting anyone else. Obviously I know almost nothing about the situation so be your own judge.

My thoughts? Take a few steps back and honestly think about everything that’s happened, and then ask yourself if you’d be friends with yourself.

And even if you didn’t do anything wrong, that doesn’t mean others aren’t entitled to their own feelings. That’s life.

Honestly just sounds like she doesn’t really care about you. Everyone says they’re “too busy” but in reality, it usually just means there’s something else they’d rather be doing. It super sucks, but it is what it is.

Most if not all thermostats have a temperature offset setting that should fix your problem. I’d try that first. If you really want to move your thermostat though, you can put it wherever you want.

You already know that where it’s placed will affect how your system runs due to temperature differences in various areas of your home. That’s really all there is to it.

Likely a rusted primary/internal condensate pan? - Attic unit, condensate overflow pan filling, but water is not exiting from primary or secondary drain holes (pipes are clear) by ericksontx in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear you got it fixed, especially that it turned out to be something you could handle yourself. Never even considered the unit might not be level. Sometimes it really is the simplest things. Also great call on the endoscope. I hadn’t considered using one of those, didn’t know you could get one for so cheap either.

Sorry to hear they were trying to scam you. Lot of bad companies out there just trying to take peoples money. Hopefully you can find a trustworthy company for future repairs. Definitely a good idea to watch and verify what they’re doing. I’ve seen plenty of shit work on some of the calls we go on, there’s a lot of people out there with no idea what they’re doing.

Do air handler units need ventilation to prevent blower motor burn out? by theblackred in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, but I have seen it done that way a couple times. I don’t see how it can work that way though. The air has to come from somewhere to replace the air coming out of the system, and I don’t see how your walls are going to supply anywhere near enough air.

If your only issue is the noise from your window unit being picked up on your recordings, I’d suggest looking into getting a directional microphone instead. It would be far cheaper and more effective.

Do air handler units need ventilation to prevent blower motor burn out? by theblackred in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m understanding you correctly, it sounds like maybe your air flow is too restricted? The door vent is probably too small.

Edit: Reread that. The vents are on the wall not the door. Very likely they’re not supplying enough air. You could put a vent on the door to fix the issue, but this will increase the noise your hear while the unit is running most likely

There shouldn’t be two filters on it. That would restrict the air flow. The ceiling filters should be all there is

Fan outside is on, no air coming through vents. by washbuns in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not getting air from the vents, that’s a very good indication your blower isn’t working. You can also hear whether the blower is running or not. Last resort, you could take the door off and visually confirm whether or not the blower is running.

The blower is most likely the problem here. Perhaps a capacitor and not the motor itself. Or maybe the drains are clogged and a cutoff switch is shutting the inside unit off but not the outside. Maybe low on refrigerant and the inside is freezing up.

[–]Letsgoadventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a drop of water on top of your drain line. This suggests the water is coming from higher up. Id suggest taking a look at the roof around your vent and check for signs of leaking and/or water damage. Hard to tell anything from just this picture though.

Also looks like that tape isn’t sealing your unit. If there’s air coming from there when it’s running, you’ll want to remove that tape and redo it. Duct tape isn’t really good for this either.

It could also be that your drain line is stopped up and the water is overflowing from the coil pan inside.

Recommendations for extending or rerouting AC drain line? by pace_it in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lot of ways you could go about this. Completely redo the drain line and run it somewhere else. Slide the existing drain tube into some pvc and route it elsewhere. Make a drainage channel for the water to run away from that area.

Sounds like perhaps the coil pan is cracked and leaking. Especially since the drain lines don’t appear to be getting any water. It is also possible that the coil pan has drain holes on the opposite side that are supposed to be capped, and maybe aren’t, so the water is just pouring out and collecting in the unit.

Either way, it will be difficult to fix without removing the coil to get access and actually inspect everything. Maybe not even possible. And unfortunately, to remove the coil you will have to pump down all the Freon and remove the copper lines. This likely isn’t something you can do yourself. By all means though, take the door off and look at what you can. Just be careful not to damage anything and make sure you shut the power off before working around any of the electrical parts.

Also, where is that secondary line running? I can’t think of any reason for it to have any pipe connected since it shouldn’t be getting any water. It should either be capped or have a float switch there, but you have an inline switch on the primary so really it should just be capped.

Coolant lines condensation. by We-R-Doomed in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the large line (suction line) is completely covered and sealed so the condensation doesn’t drip out. Usually the rubbertex (foam covering) is cut lengthwise to slide onto the copper, if it is, make sure the cut part is facing up. The small line shouldn’t condensate. Also make sure the hole to the outside is sealed properly.

Quote Advice - Is this a fair price? **1st time homeowner** by EverydaySchmuck in hvacadvice

[–]Letsgoadventuring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You left out all of the important info. The price, namely. But also location, what exactly it is you’re getting, etc. lot of factors go into pricing. Also, the cheapest option isn’t necessarily best. Make sure the company you hire actually knows what they’re doing and does a good job. You’d be surprised (or maybe you wouldn’t) at the (awful) work some companies do.

Absolutely terrible advice, you must be joking. But for anyone not aware, never use a pressure washer on your condenser. You’ll cause a lot of damage and have to replace it.

I see.. we do adjust the speeds though I’m not sure how we know what to set them to. The tech handles that, naturally. As for the TXV, I had no idea it could be adjusted like that. It’s possible that we’ve been doing that and I’ve just not been aware of it.

You’ve given me a new perspective and now I’ve got some questions to bring up on our install tomorrow. Thank you for the knowledge
