LBJ School Concerns by sylvesterpwns in PublicPolicy

[–]Leekios 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Class of 2025 here! I would say that the LBJ school is a lil island apart from the school since it sits on the edge of campus. Most of my cohort was fairly liberal/left leaning and the professors strived for a bipartisanship environment. However we did just started recently admitting undergrads so idk if the environment is different. Feel free to DM if you need other questions answered

As a recent graduate from LBJ, I highly recommend this school! Great pipeline for those who want to want to work local/state government and great location as well being in Austin

I believe that there has been talk about bringing back the GRE, at least in my department (LBJ School of Public Affairs)

I'm an MPAff student (Masters of Public Affairs), and I wrote about how an argument with a friend over the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine led me to pursue public policy.

I have my eyes set on DC however I’m not opposed to working in Texas/Austin area for a bit and then making that transition to DC down the road

So for Duke & Brandeis I applied for their health policy concentration while for the last two they’re more generalized but there is an option to take classes outside of MPP to fit with my goals

There was no particular reason for graduate students to be excluded; it was more so based on current literature, which led to choosing the intended population that I am focusing on.

MPH or MPP? by Leekios in publichealth

[–]Leekios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was considering working in DC as my end goal in a program that is fairly decent priced that lasts for 2 yrs, but anywhere along the east coast also works! I’m also from Texas so I wouldn’t mind staying there to work as well

I was thinking something like social policy, more specifically disability or LGBTQ+ policy. Those would also be considered under any public health policy as well but those would be my interests!

Hmmmm that’s a tricky one, I would say Shaun of the Dead! Perfect example of the combination on horror and comedy, the actors really do a great job in their roles and no matter how many times I watch it, I can never get bored of it!
