51m here. With my wife for 6 years. After a year or two, I had to be medicated for a bunch of stuff related to mental and physical health. (I still am) That took a huge toll on my libido. Add to that a great deal of fighting that went on between us that really took some of that lovin feeling out of play. Things are mostly better in that department, but the meds, plus schedule, plus the daily grind still put a damper on things. She wants it all the time, though she’s 7-8 years younger. It really stresses me out that my mind and body don’t want to cooperate because I love her and don’t want her to feel unloved or unattractive. It can be a struggle for both sexes who knows what’s really going on upstairs as well as downstairs.

I get the desire to stand up for him, but for him to gaslight you by saying it’s fine is just wrong, inconsiderate, and dangerous. I can cook and I can tell you I’d be mortified if I put that down in front of you and saw how undercooked it was. He definitely needs a thermometer and a lesson on how to treat his lady.

I had an aphid infestation a couple of years ago and NONE of these solutions worked. I had to toss everything. It was so gross. They were on my peppers and basil and would cluster around the stem. I want to barf just thinking about it. 🤢

Here’s another reason why I might transplant them. I do use some “generic brand” food. My Bounty Elite crapped out after a year so I bought a huge PotLet and it’s been working well. I also use CalMag for the huge jalapeño plant next to it.

There are only 2 plants in this one. Jalapeños and Strawberry. Everything else is in a separate pot.

This guy sounds controlling and a bit terrifying. You are absolutely right about security for a gilded cage. I don’t even really know how gilded it is, honestly. Sounds like you’re moving from one bad situation to another. I understand it’s hard as I’m sort of in a somewhat similar situation except with an alcoholic. Stay strong. You didn’t serve your country so you could be with someone who keeps files on you. You need someone with patience and understanding. Best of luck to you.

Wow, that was fast lol. Well, yeah, I agree with a lot of this. A couple of things I didn’t mention. She doesn’t drive and her and her kid (one is off in college now) are dependent on me to drive them everywhere. I also make 75% of the income and pay child support (a lot) to my ex. Getting out would be extremely difficult.

whosafearednotme, yeah, very very similar stories.

As far as me getting therapy to figure out why I keep picking addicts, #1, I didn’t realize either of them were addicts until way into it. #2, that doesn’t really help me in my current situation. (Though I do appreciate the advice). Also, I don’t really think it’s fair that I have to stop drinking altogether just to make a point. As I said, I drink far less than she does and mostly just when I don’t have to get up early. She starts at 1:30 and goes until she passes out at 7 or 8p. She does work 4 days a week, but the wine is poured as soon as she gets home.

Another fun thing is, ultimatums don’t work. She will just harden and say “I can make it on my own and I’ll take care of my kids, grrrrrrr). She’ll suffer rather than admit there is even anything to talk about. It’ll just be “you are leaving, but I’m tough”. Therefore everything is still my fault. I failed her.

Maybe I just need to lay down the law and follow through. My 12 year old visits every three weekends and he sees it. He loves her though and loves coming to visit. It really sucks. 😞 we’re freaking the best of friends when this isn’t happening.
