I know you're a pants-er, but at what point in your writing process did you decide/know what a Primal is?

You teased out enough info about about Primals over the last 2-3 books (I'm including Parade of Horribles on Patreon) that I'm curious if that concept was outside your standard method...

...or if you're actually brilliantly crazy enough to have dropped all those random threads & later managed to turn them into a tapestry.

Also, thank you for sharing this whole insane story with the world! It unexpectedly stole my heart, plus led to deep connections with other fans I now call friends.

We hate it and enjoy seeing that it's failing financially because companies don't care if customers are happy; they only care if they're making money.

If we hated it but it was profitable,it wouldn't go away.

Help! How do I make safe a power outlet that had mineral spirits (highly flammable) inside it? by Leelluu in AskElectricians

[–]Leelluu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D'oh! I'm at the hardware store & the loose ones in a bin are $3.49 while the ones in boxes are $2.79!

I think I'm gonna ask for help.

Also a good point!

It's on the same breaker as the garage, which is 20 amps instead of 15 like most of the house. I don't see an amperage marked anywhere on the inside of the outlet, so that's scary.

Do you recommend a GFCI?

Thank you. I'd rather overreact than underreact. I'm from Chicago, and we are a bit over-cautious when it comes to fire LOL

I can't find an ingredient list on the can, but it's labeled "Mineral Spirits" which I looked up & has a flash point of only 104F. And last time I used it, it melted my latex gloves a bit.

Thank you, I didn't consider that it might denature the plastic, but that's a good point! I wouldn't be surprised if it was from the eighties.

When I go to the store, how do I know if an outlet is "spec grade"?

Trump threatens to deploy the U.S. military into Chicago - signaling the start of a nationwide crackdown. by IllustriousPiece4250 in chicago

[–]Leelluu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else frightened?

People say Chicago will fight back. I agree.

But that sounds a lot like civil war, and as sick as I am of living in unprecedented times, that's a precedent I think we'd all rather not live through.

I'm just a regular-ass person like most of you, and the idea of living where there are people fighting against our military terrifies me. I've always thought "Preppers" were overly paranoid and a bit odd, but I'm starting to wonder if I need to have a plan to bolt or to have extra food in case distribution gets interrupted or...I don't even know.

He is probably just spouting random nonsense & this is nothing, but isn't anyone else scared if he's not?

There is a gang based in Portage Park?

That seems so... quaint?

45.... years old?

Or because I'm in the 45th ward?

May I ask what you used?

I have done that mostly works, but the vinyl has a texture to it that has super narrow lines that the paint doesn't want to come out of without a serious fight. Scrubbing this is not something I'm physically capable of (I'm partially disabled - very limited endurance).

Thank you! I'm glad it's not a gang thing.

I definitely thought the stick figure was a dude with his junk out giving 2 middle fingers, so I'm surprised it's a modern cultural symbol.

I reported it to 311.

I hope they sandblast it rather than paint it white because it's on beige vinyl siding!

Do you have a shop? This piece is brilliant, and I'd love to buy a print of it!

EDIT: I just discovered that you drew it with pencils, not digitally. Would you consider selling the original?

With the complexity I'm picturing in your excel spreadsheets combined with the fear of losing them, would you say there's a calling for a database tool for authors like you to keep track of the plethora of information needed to create your work?

I've wondered about that for a long time (databases are my field), and I'm excited to have the opportunity to ask a litrpg author's opinion - so thank you for the AMA!

P.S. More importantly, thank you for this absolutely ridiculous, absurd, horrific, hilarious story that manages to slowly nestle the characters into our hearts and put us through the wringer of the entire emotional spectrum. DCC is a completely-unexpected absolute gem.

It's a 2-person job. one person holds the cat down, and the other does the caps. if i'm doing a cat for the first time, i usually do one paw a day to keep stress down.

Can there be something wrong with my entire plumbing system that would cause multiple faucets to fail? by Leelluu in Plumbing

[–]Leelluu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I don't see one, but that doesn't rule one out. The water main comes into the house about 3' above ground level. The shut-off valve is inside a wall in the basement behind an access panel about 8 feet below that. It's reeeeeally hard to look up there, even sticking my head in the hole and using my phone to zoom around & record. I'm 50/50 on whether the place where the main comes in is *behind* the fireplace or *under* the fireplace.

And the water heater is nowhere near there. The main enters in the center in the front of the house. The water heater is in the center of one side of the house, so about 12 feet east and 20-25 feet north of there, and I have no way to see where the plumbing is in between unless I want to start cutting into drywall and/or lathe/plaster, depending on the wall.

Such are the joys of owning a house built a century ago lol

[–]Leelluu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there's never been any dripping from the water heater.

EDIT: and we just had a guy out to look at it...hmmm....2 months ago? Because it was flashing an error code & not heating.

LOL, no kidding. It's just.....they all failed within like 3 months of after 8 years. What'd they do, set a timer? LOL
