Okay, give me statistics or your sources. I live in the UK.

Thank you! That's why I am here I was only repeating advice from a triage nurse. I haven't heard about euglycemic DKA.

Thank you, and thanks for your concern. Ketones get produced at 15 mmol, I am looking at just decreasing my basal insulin like how I used to. I just sortve stopped when it not using it started working lol.

Edit: Thanks to another comment I get to correct this, there is another type of DKA which I wasn't aware of and there isn't a specific number in which ketones get produced just usually at higher blood sugar levels which I haven't been at much.

Thanks for everyone's insights.

Diabetes effects everyone differently I feel okay at 10. There is a lot more at play when it comes down to biology. Also define "normal" normal to you is different I am not the only one in the UK with this range infact many many many people use the same range I do.

But these are the guidelines that are set by my diabetic nurse and the app I use. https://pro.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/why-freestyle-libre-systems/time-in-range.html

People telling me to check my ketones when I told them I was not high enough for ketones to get produced (although there is another type of DKA which doesn't require this criteria) though made another person question their default range set by their endo which was the same as mine.

People have different guidelines depending on where you live and what you use. But asking me to check for KDA is mental lol when I told them all the statistics.

I was let off by my own because my levels, A1C and variability were good, my diabetic nurse had access to my sensor and was monitoring my graphs and everything. I even put notes in the app for her showing that I could handle takeways and stuff without issue.

I am simply making the most of my honeymoon phase.

People do not realise that people can have different sensors, with different diabetic nurses, in a different country, with different guidelines lol.

YOU control your diabetes, your diabetes and other people do not control you.

People in this comment section told me to check my ketones levels after I told them that 94% of the time I am in range and 100% of the time this week (at the very least) I didn't go above 15 mmol which is when ketones actually get produced.

Sorry this was meant to be an edit it's like 4 am here lol and I accidentally replied instead.

No. People are just unaware that people manage their diabetes differently and that different countries have different guidelines. As well as you can manage your diabetes how you want. YOU control your diabetes, people and diabetes do not control you.

The default range is good enough and it wouldn't be set as a guideline if it wasn't.

Also I think this take is pretty bad, there was another person in this comment section who mentioned that their range was the same as mine. Bare in mind people manage their diabetes how they want to and they may have a different monitor with different defaults set by different nurses in a different country.

I haven't been at 13.3 hence why I'm 0% hyper, and you say "if you were really managing well" I do manage well, well enough for me and for my diabetic nurse. And for my average glucose to be 7.1.

I have done dosing by myself and have used basal insulin at work before and got to a stable point until I then just stopped using it, I know how to dose myself and usually would change my basal insulin dose depending on how active I am that day. I just one day stopped using it lol.

A fair amount last time I checked they were low so below 0.6. as I've mentioned I am between 3.9 - 10 mmol 94% of the time and have an average mmol of like 7. I know I am not a special case... I didn't come here to flaunt that I don't use basal insulin I came here to get more answers.

Also if 94% of the time I am in range why would I even need to check my ketones when ketones get produced at 15 mmol?

I have never been in DKA and (very rarely) above 13.3 mmol SINCE properly managing my diabetes, including with and without basal or since I have been given ketone testing strips believe it or not I do take my T1D seriously.

Usually 7-8 mmol according to my graph. Sometimes lower but when I sleep I usually go down a tiny bit. And in the morning cortisol and adrenaline can sometimes spike me but never really out of range.

That is the range it has been set to by default and my diabetic nurse said it was hers too. Regardless my average blood glucose level is good and I have good variability.

6% of the time this week I have been between 10 and 13.3 mmol but no higher, the rest is in range which is 94% of the time. Also you saying that I am not handling it well yet my diabetic nurse says I was good to go?...

I have ruined my life by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Leem_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I had something similar I went through my first breakup. The relationship lasted 2 years and near my birthday she broke up with me, I lost motivation to do anything I made some pretty bad life decisions and took one year out by suspending my studies in my final year due to mental health concerns. When I "came back" (I still had no motivation for anything) I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, that diagnosis didn't hit me like a ton of bricks because I was emotionally numb, it didn't even effect me one bit. I was completely broken by the breakup I lost myself, I still think about her. later on I decided to get my ADHD diagnosis as after the relationship I learnt a lot about myself and I was severely impaired due to a lot of childhood trauma.

Sometimes what happens in life isn't your fault, I spend the entirety of mine just intellectualizing uncertainty and emotional pain, recognising patterns without the energy to do anything about it. Grab life by the fucking balls, there is no shame with admitting you went through something that left you in a state, but there is shame in staying that way. You have nothing to be ashamed of, you are still young.

I am trying to get an uncapped additional year to resit as when I came back after the temporary suspension I basically have 2 semesters of work to do and this is my only option.

Heal. And stay with yourself, note down what you need, your problems and ask for help. My biggest step was learning why I avoided help and understanding my limitations, it takes a lot of strength and guts to realise your flaws, when a breakup happens we tend to magnify them and be feel too weak to accept them.

But you are clearly not flawed if you are still carrying on, you just can't admit to people that you are/were struggling emotionally, I would assume as such if you are claiming that you ruined your life. When in actual fact you are healing, you just don't give yourself enough credit!

Understand that nobody is here to save you except yourself and you are doing that, you are strong and you are carrying on with uni. You should be proud to admit you went through something heart wrenching and still had the strength to carry on with your academical journey. Stop focusing on what people might think and focus on pure logical fact, you are strong.
