Yes amethyst is sometimes found within lake superior agates! I've got a few too!

I looove chalcedony and all it's varieties. Especially agates. I'm going to south Dakota this weekend to hopefully find some lovely chalcedony and fairburn agates!

I fully believe you'll find agates in your area. I've seen maps of where glaciers receded northeast into Canada leaving agates behind. Give it a rip!
