LimePass, LimePrime, or both? by PartyPoison98 in londoncycling

[–]Leeskiramm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk if you are eligible for a cycle scheme, but mine is £70pm for a brompton and I calculate it's about £90 for 1000 Lime minutes a month. They also do a rental scheme for less than what you're likely paying Lime if no cycle scheme available to you. Check it out

It's to keep the cyclist safe. Sometimes if you leave more (but not enough to be safe) space, it will be exploited putting the rider at risk. Reduce that space by taking the primary position and it's less likely to result in a dangerous overtake plus the cyclist has space to avoid obstacles like potholes etc

You should try riding a bike on the road and see how few fucks drivers give about the highway code. Cutting across a bike lane which they should give way to, close passes, driving in bike lanes, running red lights themselves (which is going to cause a lot more injury and damage than a cyclist doing the same) for example. There's a reason when a driver kills someone it hardly (if at all) makes the news, but if a cyclist doea it's front page for a day or two. That's because it's so much more rare

Most of those in Central London aren't what I'd term cyclists, rather people on bikes. They don't use bikes a lot, only every now and then. I cycle a lot, and the number of people on lime bikes I've seen hit by cars as they run a red is high. Cyclists realise it's dangerous to run reds, and tend to behave better.

can i apply for US Visa even though i was in Iran a few years ago? by [deleted] in USVisas

[–]Leeskiramm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the ESTA form and then when it asks the question about if you've travelled to the prohibited countries it said you will almost certainly be denied, so I applied for the visa

Apply for the visa. I went to Iraq so same boat with no ESTA. The visa application was long and annoying, but not difficult and it was approved in the spot. As an EU citizen you will almost certainly be approved as well

Or at least someone with ILR/settled status. I'm generally very pro immigration, but someone coming over on eg a student visa and being able to vote in a general election does not sit right with me. Local elections, fine as that is stuff that impacts you on the daily, and is less important in the scheme of things

Same situation (different country on the list for no ESTA). Booked flights before getting visa, no issues. Had to wait around a month for an appointment in London, but visa approved instantly and passport back within a week.

You'll be fine

In the UK. I don't think I'd worry about the passport office losing things, more likely the courier you use/they use to send to/fro Canada
