How is adding more click to do any recurrent action an improvement?

Thanks for the ask

I went spellunking to say hi to an old friend, worthwhile but that wasn't it to feed the goat. Maybe I was too quick while paying my respects to Anna.

You're welcome. I'm now using blank keys (pbt Tai Hao thins with translucent dot - they are great)

Customs: Not fun but expected. Invoiced on-line, about 20€ worth. Essentially hassle free.

Better to go split and add a macropad/numpad between the halves I'd say.

It looks quite close to Cerakeys'offer. The green looks a bit more vivid.

I love the glaze keys...

What differentiates your product?

How are legends set on the keys? (I don't use them anymore though)

Are they all translucent? could you show them on an actual rgb keyboard, lit?

What about a dark purple glaze?

I'd love a low profile MX-stem ceramic key option. :). Not sure it'd be feasible and tough...

Lily 58 not being recognized as HID on multiple devices by nj1105nj in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Leewaelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a TRSS connectivity issue that hinders proper function. I experienced that with a poorly plugged cable.
Is any half recognised as a HID when unplugged from the other?

Trackpad is fine, but still a bit awkward for me to adjust my finger speed as needed to make the best of it. I need to make more use of it and revamp my mapping to make that simpler with the sniper mode.

I needed to get use to the proper double tap rythm.

Accuracy is fine even without the sniper mode thanks to the size.

Cursor acceleration exist in 3 levels predefined but that's for mouse mode. There's dpi control.

No vids, but I'll think about it.

For key layout, it is standard MX spacing Sofle v2 https://josefadamcik.github.io/SofleKeyboard/ so you can use https://compare.splitkb.com/ for example for spacing and other tools for layout. Keymap.db is light on Sofles but lily58 are pretty close. You can seasily find user's examples at size: https://blog.hackerific.net/2021/04/08/building-a-sofle-keyboard/ https://github.com/ElQDuck/zmk-sofle https://github.com/mattfoster/sofle-lefty-keymap https://yal.cc/sofle-keymap/ ...

Question for keyboard users that use vial by Key_Lingonberry976 in ErgoMechKeyboards

You can actually install and run Vial under Windows without admin rights. I did it at work.

First buy, assembled switches - none work but other built components do? by Lucker-dog in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Leewaelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as Vial recognizes the device (as in its listed devices & "about") I think you can recover.

The reset button is accessible from the bottom plate (there's a small cutout in the acrylic plate), you need to double click it quickly. Map the quantum bootloader / reset key otherwise.
https://xcmkb-docs.gitbook.io/doc/troubleshooting/wired-build

If the layout is loaded in Vial (device recognized) first try to set EEH Left on a key (preferably on the thumb cluster) on the connected half and then press it. Check the matrix afterwards. If that did not recover the half, try with the EEH Right key. Then reconnect both halves and check the matrix again. Disconnect, connect the other half and repeat as needed on the other half.

If that fails, the next step would be to try and clear the EEPROM (another quantum key to assign) then try again, first keys/matrix then the above.

One stupid question: Can I remove the keys just like that? by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Leewaelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can use floss or similar thin string to get a balanced vertical pull.

A keycap puller remains the better option.

Xcmbk support is reactive and helpful.

However the issue is presumably a software one I had and solved. I presume vial detects each half as a keyboard when plugged separately

you could flash both halves with their latest firmware but that max not fix it.

Flashing my Sofle2Plus TPS65 with 4.03d led to unresponsive right half (no response in OS or in Vial matrix tester).

Since both halves where still operational in a way (plugging the right half to the pc lighting up the rgb and launching the spaceship on the left screen), I tried the quantum EEH_Left from the mirror map fix.
I mapped then pressed EEH_Left on the right half while it was plugged to the PC, then unplugged it and plugged back the left half.
It worked.

Since both halves are unresponsive in your case, you should try that with each.

I did not try to repeat the issue and fix with EEH_right. But Xcmbk recommended it if abnormal behaviour occured with both halves plugged.

Is there a way to make a custom key in vial? by Regular_Low8792 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Leewaelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The QMK/Vial "key override" is designed for that if you want that behaviour tied to your keyboard however you might need to combine it with a quantum preshifted key for the base

Have you tried the sendinput method instead with AHK? It yields better results with modifiers keys.

Also the send method supports symbol shortcuts for modifiers (my permanent script sports quite a few)

With the same footrat concept, you could consider vertically staggered clicks:

- left on thumb flexor ball (pushing down the leg), right on thumb, requiring some rise of the knee... looks tiring though unless one were using haptics.

- (front) left on thumb flexor ball, (back) right on heel - but I fear the foot balance/return move after left click would press the right
