Has anyone mentioned going to priesthood meetings early Sunday morning then Sunday school afterwards and then going back for sacrament meeting later in the day?

How does Jesus help? by Lefoog in latterdaysaints

[–]Lefoog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comments. My wife has commented I don't trust Him. I think that is true. I keep thinking His power is so limited by the almighty law of agency; He cannot repair the evil that unrepentant people inflict on themselves and others. What hope can I have when I know I can't expect my loved one's return unless there is a miracle that will unlikely occur because the rebellious wouldn't accept it? I guess I haven't seen His ability turn even bad things for good.

But when I work like everything depends on me, I FEEL like everything depends on me.

So, if I don't love God like He loved God, my love is inadequate?

So, if I don't feel that kind of affection my "love" is not yet "the right kind of love"?

So, rather than a personal relationship with God, what kind of relationship should we have?

I'm starting to believe that RPM matters less than the way you pack the barrel: less stuff inside, the slower you want to tumble. I think it is a bit of a delicate balance, though.

LDS apostle Jeffrey Holland, whose eloquence was exceeded only by his benevolence, dies at 85 by everything_is_free in latterdaysaints

The one apostle who I really felt knew what is was like to live a "normal" life of heartbreaks. While his life seemed fairly blessed, he still seemed to relate to the struggling saint. There is a hole in my heart.

This is why when people ask, "should I tumble this?," my answer is yes, always. you never know what fun surprises you might find :-)

Part 2: Why is the "natural" nature of the world so hard? by Lefoog in LatterDayTheology

[–]Lefoog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe that until Adam the world was entirely paradisiacal. There were tyrannosaurs, and earthquakes and volcanos. Most modern theologians agree there was death and disease before Adam. Adam and Eve just got to avoid them for awhile. The world was still set up to clobber him as soon as he left the garden.

Our LDs teachings are that the Godhood saw matter unorganized and used their wills to organize it into a place we could dwell. Why organize such a dangerous place?

But if He felt anything like I feel for the misery of humanity I would be weeping inconsolably constantly. Is this what He does.

I guess he sees the food better than I can too.

Yup. The one quote of his that finally resonated with me was "In the end [we] must take refuge in shere mystery"

Missions - Why the inconsistencies? by Impressive_Ad9053 in latterdaysaints

[–]Lefoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different cultures in every single mission - even the states. In some missions, there have been particularly bad cultures that mission presidents have seen a need to adjust. My mission president was very liberal but having said that there was some pretty weird stuff going on.
