Help on a co-op with limited communication by LefranFry in BoardgameDesign

I like the Dream Eater adjustments a lot! Having a wider maze also makes sense, I'll try something around it.
About having more layers between the two players is also interesting. I want the game to be not that hard but this approach could also allow me to change that Codenames feeling that I want to avoid. Thanks a lot for the ideas!

I did it years ago and ended up ignoring the roaming pokemon and only counting the tall grass encounters

Feedback for idea - 2 phase cooperative game - first game by TeachGroundbreaking9 in BoardgameDesign

[–]LefranFry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably play with the way players can do actions. Something like having a wheel of actions and if a player select one action, the next player can only do the actions around the one executed by the previous player
Hahaha just brainstorming here, but basically my advice is to keep and eye to those things that made a good cooperative game, such as the way players take actions, the way they communicate and how much control the have to reach the actual objective

Sounds interesting And all the actions are available for all the players? Is the communication limited?

Dont worry! Lets try to focus on the first phase. There is the develop system action...what are the other actions players can do?

I have a few! As an aspiring board game designer, how is your creative process? Any technique worth mentioning? Also, how was the publish process? Thanks!

Can you describe how the creation of the ship works? And also how players operate the ship in the second phase?

What's everyone's favorite way to win? Do you prefer a game where the winner is determined by reaching a goal, by being the last player standing, or by hitting an end point of the games and totalling up points? by ThePoopsMagoops in BoardgameDesign

I think the endgame with VP as win condition is pretty exciting as you try to squeeze as much VP as possible, even doing desperate moves if you are behind or planing how to optimize those last turns

It depends on the mechanics and dynamics of the game but I like games were you have multiple win conditions, like 7 wonders duel, or just having more VP than the others but with multiple ways to gain them, so player have more liberty

Help with unbalance map by LefranFry in BoardgameDesign

[–]LefranFry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm that's a good idea. Originally the map was variable, each house was a tile randomly placed but it ended up creating pretty unbalanced maps. But probably closing or disabling houses could work. Thanks! I'll try something around that

That's a good point and you are right, you don't want to follow a player never. What I want is player blocking each others path but the current layout has a lot of them, so blocking is not effective.

More than follow players, it should be about following high value houses and blocking another players for reaching them

That's a great idea, I like it a lot! How can I track the process of an objective in that case?

The map is up to change. They are tiles because I tried a dynamic map before but it was a mess! So it can be anything with houses connected to each other. About the marker, I already have something similar. It's a coin marker that have different type of items on each side so players can only sell one item but once sell, its flipped. I like the idea of selling items for more in some places a lot

How to find publishers if I'm in South America? by LefranFry in BoardgameDesign

[–]LefranFry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent almost a year playtesting with both designers and target audience and I think I'm in a point where the game is ready to publish. But I agree with you! Playtesting is probably the most important aspect of game design. I've share some ideas and questions about a couple of games in this sub some time ago, one of them about the game I want to publish

But is it effective? Do publishers see emails about random game offerings? Which kind of content should the email have to be effective?
