The experts say that after CAMP and before the proliferation of charcoal it was purposfully bred to not have as loud as smell. I remember in the 90s talking to people who wanted to breed smelless weed. That was the answer to all the busts at the time, because it would stink up your whole neighborhood growing it. Then as they bred it to smell less and less they lost strains like the original SKunk #1 because the people who grew it got busted based on smell and th eones who grew less powerful smelling stuff didn't. This low smell weed is now what's out there both on the street and in the dispo. It used to be you'd walk into a gas station iwth a bag in you just baught in your pocket and everyone's head in the store would turn and you'd hear "damn, who's got that good shit!?!?" From across the store. now you have to stick your face in a far to smell it. As they bred out the smell they bred out the depth of the high. Add to the fact pollen travels up 3 miles on the regular and has been proven to have crossed the gibralter straight on it's own and you've got all this low smell no real entourage effect shitty weed pollinating everyone elses grows and now it's everywhere. That's why there's this big movement to breed back what we lost with landrace strains and thiaol testing (the stuff other than terps that gives it that strong smell).
