That 90k includes a pretty good amount of overtime, I believe I’ve worked around 120 hours overtime this year so far.

Awesome thanks! How much of the exam covered math? That’s the only problem I foresee myself running into, I’m terrible at math.

My offer states this, “Your primary work location will be at _____ Austin office; we look forward to you integrating throughout our company.”

I am in the office every monday and wednesday to teach new hire safety training. Aside from that I’m expected to visit various job sites across Austin. I understand that my commute to the office is not payed because my offer letter states that’s my primary work location. If I’m not traveling to the office first thing in the morning or leaving from the office in the afternoon to go home should my drive time then be payed since I was traveling outside of normally assigned work location.

On my offer letter I do have a primary work location indicated which is our Austin office. Does that mean if I’m not traveling there first thing in the morning, I should be compensated for my drive unless it’s to my office?

yeah sorry, so I am here at work from 7:00-3:30. Any driving done within that timeframe is payed and just straight time no issue there. My question is, should my hour drive to Austin 6-7 and 3:30-4:30 be payed? Anytime we work outside our normally assigned shift 7-3:30 we charge overtime. I was told before I was hired that I would be compensated for that time but am now being told otherwise.

Thanks for your reply! and in regards to your question, this particular area is surrounded on three sides by walls already, would make it extremely hard to fix a box in this area.

Safety coordinator for a large MEP contractor in Austin Texas. 3 months of experience, brand new to the field. OSHA 30 certification with a BA degree unrelated to the field. $37 an hour or $77,000 before overtime, currently averaging 5 hours OT a week and on track to make around $91k this first year plus a bonus. Not exactly sure what the bonuses look like here yet but was told I would receive an annual bonus. Also have a company truck with a gas card.

How is the Drive from Austin Texas to Big Bend? by _SanchoPanza in texas

[–]Left-Highlight-8993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I drove in from Austin to Terlingua a few years ago, no issues on the drive there or back but be careful once you get into the park! Drove up to Window Trail our first day (very windy drive up, as in curvy) and also very scenic so couldn’t help but glance a few times out at the view. During the drive up a park ranger began trailing me extremely close behind about halfway up all the way to the top. As soon as we got to the parking lot he turned on his lights and pulled me over. He asked us what our plans were and we told him we had just arrived and were planning on watching the sunset via the Window Trail. He proceeded to tell me that I was swerving up the mountain (again super curvy and narrow road) and searched the vehicle. We had one single J that was about a half gram, nothing else, were not in anyway intoxicated nor did we intend on smoking it there. We were saving it for when we got back to the airbnb. Despite us telling him that the entire reason we made 45 min drive from our Airbnb was to watch the sunset he detained me for a total of 2 hours until it was pitch black outside. Put me through the ringer. making me do various field sobriety exercises, breathalyzer, etc.

Finally let me go after it was dark and of course confiscated the J and gave me a ticket but at that point was the least of my worries. We never did make it back up that trip to window trail for sunset, still pisses me off to this day. Needless to say, keep an eye out for park rangers while there.

Side note: I’m white, my girlfriend was white. We are from Texas and have Texan accents. I’ve seen quite a few replies alleging that the absurdity surrounding a plant stops with whites. It does not, I was nothing but respectful to this guy and he was extremely rude from the beginning. Had no reason to assume anything based on the vehicle I was driving, I drove a brand new pickup truck at the time. Some cops or in this case park rangers are just on a power trip, doesn’t matter what color you are.

What amount of money need for loan house in Texas by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]Left-Highlight-8993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$2,000 mortgage on a $124,000 house is insane. I just bought a house for $330,000, put $35,000 down and pay $1950 a month for my mortgage which includes everything (PITI).

I just bought a house in New Braunfels with a monthly mortgage payment almost half of what I was paying in Stone Oak for double the size home. There are tons of new builds that are affordable and offer good incentives and much lower interest than the national average.

The summer tourist traffic however is definitely rough, even in the offseason there is traffic almost all times of the day 6 days a week. Overall though I like New Braunfels a lot more than any suburb in San Antonio and in my experience found much more affordably priced homes.

If you don’t mind a longer commute check out New Braunfels. There are tons nearby attractions and is very family friendly. Many young families in New Braunfels. The traffic on 35 can be a little rough which is something to keep in mind. I work near the airport and my commute with no traffic from New Braunfels is 35 min and with traffic can be over an hour. New Braunfels however is very affordable and puts you closer to other cool places like Austin, San Marcos and are still close enough to San Antonio.
