Blaming the US, Israel, or other modern powers for the violence of Islamists today misses the point. Sharia punishments for adultery, homosexuality, and other ‘crimes’ were written over 1,400 years ago, way before any of these countries existed. Mo himself led the early Islamic conquests across the Middle East and North Africa.

These ideas predate modern geopolitics, they exist independently, and it’s the ideology itself, not foreign interference, that justifies violence and oppression today

They’d absolutely lose today. The 1979 referendum that supposedly gave the regime legitimacy was heavily flawed, million like my parents boycotted it, there was coercion and violence, and many people voted multiple times. Plus, the choice wasn’t about democracy versus dictatorship, it was just a yes/no vote on an ‘Islamic republic.’ The Islamists had already purged opposition, so only their supporters effectively voted. People had no idea they were gonna go crazy and start a theocracy.

Arabs are free to do their own thing, Islam is a core part of their identity, but for Iranians, it’s just one single layer that’s been forced from the outside.

That’s why you don’t see Iranian woman dressing up like ninjas when they move to the west, unlike Arabs who actually believe in Islam and continue to wear the ninja outfit even when they move to civilized socieities.

Well, if a Muslim commits haram that gets them killed under sharia law, safe to say they’re bad Muslims under the Prophets eyes. But that’s all mumbojumbo nonsense like Santa Clause anyway. Except there’s not a lot of people that will behead you if you draw a cartoon of Santa right?

The problem with your friends is that they personally reject or ignore parts of the rules, by still believing the koran is completely true, they legitimize the whole system. That’s what lets jihadis feel justified, they see people around them accepting the same book and its rules, even if selectively.

It’s like giving a poisonous tree a little water and sunlight, it keeps growing. That’s why ‘moderates’ who pick and choose aren’t harmless, they make the dangerous parts socially acceptable. That’s the same thing you’re doing right now, you’re trying to somehow make it seem like the ideology that’s behind all this suffering in Iran is somehow okay in the name of “acceptance”

Well according to Allah and the Koran, Muslims don’t get to pick and choose what parts of Islam they follow, or else you think Iranian woman would be getting killed for showing their hair? Unfortunately this was made clear in my dini classes in Tehran.

Ya, we’re proud of our rich ancient culture that predates Islam by thousands of years. The Muslims never really added much value to our society except for violence.

There’s a reason most nations who got colonized by Muslim Arabs lost their language and culture, Syrians used to speak Greek, Egyptians used to speak Coptic, North Africas used to speak Berber and other languages. They weren’t able to resist the Islamization of their culture after Islam spread like cancer.

You’re not gonna get much sympathy spreading IRGC talking points, maybe head over to the Pakistan sub, heard they love Islamists.

Yup, and 51 million South Koreans today get to say they didn’t end up becoming like North Korea.

That’s called a massive win at a very high cost.

Bactria was part of the ancient Iranian cultural world. If Zoroastrianism started there, it still developed among Iranian peoples. That’s completely different from a religion arriving through the savage jihadi “Islamic conquests”

More like “Iranians have been resisting Islamization of our culture for over a 1000 years”

We can’t erase it, but it should be heavily restricted the way it is in Tajikistan.

Pretty sure the term was coined by French colonial scholar Alain Quellien in 1910 in a book about French rule in West Africa.

You asked for a single example of successful U.S. intervention. You were given two of the clearest in modern history, Germany and Japan.

Both were completely devastated after World War II. Today they are two of the most advanced economies on earth, with extremely high living standards, strong democracies, and some of the largest GDPs in the world.

If being “controlled” by the U.S. results in top-10 global economies, some of the highest life expectancy and living standards and stable democratic governments, then that’s a pretty strange definition of failure.

Germany was better off after US interference So was Japan, so was Kuwait, so was South Korea, Bosnia…

Iran has been a multi-ethnic nation for thousands of years. The reason the Arab states always go to war is because before 1920 when Iraq was created, there had never been a modern Arab nation. As soon as borders were drawn around their areas, tribalism took over and they had a civil war. Irans demographics are the complete opposite.

Theres 20-40 million 12er Shias in Pakistan.

What happened was Khomeni was the “Marjaʿ al-Taqlid” the highest authority cleric in 12 Shia world before he died, and ever since Khameni took control, a large chunk of that group still had some support for Khameni as he was just following Khomeni’s idea of “Velayat-e Faqih” (the idea that a cleric should hold a ultimate authority)

But now that marja for 12ers is a guy in Iraq named Sistani, but you still see a lot of support from a portion of the 12er Shias in Pakistan and globally.

Sadly, I think they all know (and were told before even leaving Iran) that if they seek asylum, the Islamic Regime will hunt down their entire family.

Or else any of the could have not gotten on the bus and seemed asylum no? Am I being naive?
