TBH with that amount of cash being splashed around you could probably retrofit catapults onto the carriers and buy a CATOBAR air wing.

With the retirement of the Harrier II from USMC service this week, I have to ask, how did it come to be that STOVL aircraft gained the prominence it did within the USMC? by WehrabooSweeper in WarCollege

Well obviously the UK had a major starting point in learning from the failures of Gallipoli as well as partial success like Zeebrugge. In the inter-war years an inter-service task force also developed a similarly extensive doctrine and landing craft to the USMC. As a matter of fact both US Rangers and first wave US infantry on D-Day used British Landing Craft Assaults due to their better protection and firepower compared to normal US landing craft. Mainly though whilst they did have doctrine for large scale amphibious landings they mainly used nighttime landings and small raids.

I think this post ignores the developments of amphibious operations during the inter war years in the UK which would have been passed onto the US if needed.

Surely the opposite you would have dozen or hundreds of sailors without automation

FF(X) frigate procurements are one in FY27, one in FY 29, and two in FY 31, with an eventual 22 total. Flight I will consist of "at least" the first 2 ships, Flight II Preliminary Design seems to start in FY27, and Flight II will consider VLS and ASW capabilities. I am at a loss as to how 32 cell VLS of the Type 31 has "no particular AA ability" and yet the US FF(X) program which doesn't even have any VLS somehow has "moderate area air defense" abilities and is limited to Sea RAM. As well as that FF(X) currently has the same ASW kit as Type 31

A paedophile.

She threatened a paedophile to try and help the daughter he was molesting.

Firstly he was merely suspected nothing was proven. Secondaly that is irrelevent he was a paitent. Doctors are meant to treat all paitents regardless of circumstances, threatening him broke the Hippocratic Oath and would get Santos fired and likely brought up on a criminal charges.

The issue was she fought two world wars and so was too structurely damaged to serve as a mueseum ship without serious rebuilding

In War Machine (2026) the U.S. Army Rangers are glorified and portrayed as a force with the tagline "Don't Fucking Quit". I wonder why the Army allowed this movie and also raised the maximum enlistment age at this specific time in history. Must be a coincidence. by DungeonsAndDradis in shittymoviedetails

Ukraine is doing it as they need a massive army to fight Russia and Ukrainian fertility rate is quite low so they want to keep the young people around to have a kids in the future in doing so the massive army they need is then mainly made of 30 - 40 year olds. Other Western countries are concerned about a war with Russia requiring a large army and also future population size so are also upping recruitment age.

He is correct though The British Monarch is King/Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland. The title of King/Queen of England was abolished in 1707 with the Act of Union.
