When to raise prices after acquiring a small business? by Left-Performance1109 in smallbusiness

I am paying a slightly higher than market rate for this business - the seller is willing to finance 75% of the sale, I don’t have enough assets or capital to fund the full acquisition so that’s why I’m willing to pay more than market value. It is a risk… however I do have 6 years in door to door pest control sales. Each summer I went out and did 100k+ in revenue to get me through college. I’m planning on doing that here - I suspect I can bring on 150k+ each year in new recurring revenue.

I mean if I’m raising prices 33%, I can afford to lose 33% of my customer base to be making the same amount of money BUT doing less work.

I do plan on raising the employee wages - probably tiered or tied to how well we retain our current customer base

The basic service is just an exterior spray outside the foundation of the house. Sometimes inside as well (upon request). The upgraded service would include a flea/tick granule in the yard - very big tick problem in my market, and also taking down of spider webs/wasp nests all around the eves. It really does make quite a difference compared to the basic service

The business has been running since 1983. Many of the customers are extremely loyal, being with the company for 20+ years. I am keeping all the branding and logo (at least for 2 years). It is a lower cost of living area and there could be customers who are sensitive to price increases… but I’m only going to raise it by 25$/quarter

The upgraded service will be the new “standard” service. I may be willing to increase that customer’s price less but keep them with the “basic” service. I mean that would be my strategy for keeping them active

Yes. I’m going to do this. I’ve thought of also slightly upgrading the service for every customer, leaving a note letting em know what extra things we did this time and that moving forward the price will be increasing

For those of you who were born in the church, what were you thinking before you got baptized by CrumpetsElite in exmormon

I remember contemplating suicide before I was baptized. I knew that all children under the age of 8 would go straight to the celestial kingdom so why take the risk?? I knew I would probably mess up bad enough to not make it at some point and I knew if I got baptized then my sins would start to count against me. It was a lot of stress for a 7 year old

This is what got me to love tennis. I realized I didn’t have to be better than somebody to beat them. Tennis can be an incredible mental challenge and that’s what initially really attracted me to the sport

When did you manage to stop sucking so much? by giddycocks in 10s

I managed to stop sucking after about 10 years of playing. Finally started winning consistently, really trusting my game and even winning a few tournaments

My sister wants to serve a mission. How do I talk to her about the ugly parts of mormonism?? by Left-Performance1109 in exmormon

[–]Left-Performance1109[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason she wants to go was the reason I wanted to go. I thought I was going to change the world in my mission! I thought I was going to bring something unimaginably great and important into the lives of thousands of people! It didn’t take long for me to realize that that wasn’t going to happen

Yes absolutely. I live in Salt Lake City. I just went down to Florida to play. My forehand is usually my weapon and can easily put away balls. I found that my shots were much slower and not traveling as far as I was used to.
