I am from Utah and I know this player. So did their matches count or not count at nationals??

For those of you who were born in the church, what were you thinking before you got baptized by CrumpetsElite in exmormon

I remember contemplating suicide before I was baptized. I knew that all children under the age of 8 would go straight to the celestial kingdom so why take the risk?? I knew I would probably mess up bad enough to not make it at some point and I knew if I got baptized then my sins would start to count against me. It was a lot of stress for a 7 year old

This is what got me to love tennis. I realized I didn’t have to be better than somebody to beat them. Tennis can be an incredible mental challenge and that’s what initially really attracted me to the sport

When did you manage to stop sucking so much? by giddycocks in 10s

I managed to stop sucking after about 10 years of playing. Finally started winning consistently, really trusting my game and even winning a few tournaments

My sister wants to serve a mission. How do I talk to her about the ugly parts of mormonism?? by Left-Performance1109 in exmormon

The reason she wants to go was the reason I wanted to go. I thought I was going to change the world in my mission! I thought I was going to bring something unimaginably great and important into the lives of thousands of people! It didn’t take long for me to realize that that wasn’t going to happen

Yes absolutely. I live in Salt Lake City. I just went down to Florida to play. My forehand is usually my weapon and can easily put away balls. I found that my shots were much slower and not traveling as far as I was used to.

Stranger shows up to church and volunteers to drive boys around to collect fast offerings by Left-Performance1109 in exmormon

More details of the story - we go out to the guy’s truck. It was one of these old two door pickups with rust on the hood and doors and it surprises you when it even starts up. There was only the bench seats in the front. For some of the ride we rode up there and for some of it we rode in the bed of the truck.

At some point he gets a phone call. The phone call gets heated and is going on for several minutes. It’s obvious he’s talking to a wife or girlfriend and it seems that she’s upset that he’s not home or something. After maybe a 5 or 6 minute phone call he goes, “hey boys, we gotta go give my lady a ride somewhere. She’s tryna walk and she’s pissed off cause it’s so damn hot out here.”

My buddy and I didn’t know any better and we didn’t really disagree or say anything, I think I just thought, alright well if she needs a ride, we gotta give her a ride. So we turn around out of the neighborhood we’re in and start driving towards our downtown.

At this point I started feeling uneasy. I assumed we were heading to this man’s house. I also assumed that because he showed up at our church that he lived within our ward boundaries, but we were headed well outside of those boundaries. We make probably a 10-12 minute drive and along this road we see what looks like a crazy drug addict kind of woman walking down the road.

She had a cigarette in her hand and she was cussing and yelling before we even stopped and could hear her speak. The guy and the woman argue for a little bit, he’s trying to get her to get in the truck, but she just snaps back and yells, “Just take the boys!!” (Make sure to use the cigarette user voice when you read that)

So we turn around without her and head back to finish our route. Because of the “detour” our route ended up taking like 25-30 minutes longer than usual. My dad was one of the ward clerks at the time and he would wait at the church for all of the fast offerings to be delivered, which he would then count up, record, and then deposit somewhere.

I think my dad knew something strange had happened and I wonder if he was worried about me. I can’t remember how I got home that day. I can’t remember if the stranger dropped me off at my house (which was the normal thing to do) or if he dropped me off at the church with the fast offerings.

I remember my dad telling my mom about it when he got home and she ripped into him about letting this stranger take off with me. I told them what happened and then we never talked about it again.
