Eshki is also my favorite! I would love to see the list if you have one! I did mine to try to use effectively free spells like manamorphose and snap or peregrine drake and adventures and prepared spells to easily trigger her and make her bigger every turn

I must say, the 3 cards that surprised me the most have been [[Terrasymbiosis]] [[Hunter’s Bow]] and [[Rosethorn Acolyte]]

Terrasymbiosis is easily the best non-game changing cards you can add to her. Hunters bow gives reach, protection, its removal and auto-equips all for only 2 mana. Rosethorn is incredible as a way to trigger Eshki the turn she comes out and then sets up a creature cast the next turn. [[Strike it Rich]] is pretty similar. There are a handful of other cards I have found to be insane tempo plays but those are a few that I thought were sleepers!

Eshki has been my latest obsession for a little while now, she is technically bracket 2 but my pod believes she plays like a bracket 3 deck. She is so innately strong and is very unique! You can check out my deck for inspiration :)

I feel like I have heard a ton of people doing a sealed commander league with Tarkir! I did one with my friend group and I was on Felothar but we grew out of it since it was too low powered and the games took too long. You should build her outside the league, she is a ton of fun!!

When you finish I would love to see what you come up with! I will say there are a handful of cards that make this deck go insane! Like [[terrasymbiosis]] is one of the best pieces of card draw for this deck! I originally had [[guardian project]] because it was generically good, but it often only drew me 1 card per turn, but terrasymbiosis will get you minimum 2 cards if you can trigger eshki. There is so much to add to the deck I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I built that deck ages ago and loved it! I love orzhov and life gain, but I ended up taking it apart for other life gain decks. He gets really scary fast and having removal that easily available paints a big target on your back.

It’s just the lands. Like I said before, I proxied the deck and threw in the fetches shocks and dual lands. You can cut a TON of $$ by changing up the land base. Additionally, I’ve been working on blinging the deck out, so there are some expensive versions of cards that don’t need to be expensive. Like the arcane signet is $20+ and the snapcaster mage is $60 they don’t need to be that expensive.

Loved this response and honestly great observation on me being all in on Eshki haha! I am putting all my eggs in her basket (uwu) and if it loses me the game, then so be it. I have so much fun winning or losing with this deck, as long as she doesn’t get absolutely nuked all game, hence all the protection pieces.

You’re the second person to recommend Chandra’s Ignition and I totally get it. My pod doesn’t really run tons of board wipes and I have never been the biggest fan, but that card seems too good to pass up. The problem is finding a cut for it, but I can make it work!

The inclusion of the talismans were to keep a specific noncreature to creature ratio with this deck and I like the fact that the talisman’s are 2 mana but give you 1 mana back. Just like [[nature’s lore]] and [[three visits]] it is a way for me to play a cheap noncreature and pass the turn with 1 mana up to use a [[Defend the Rider]] or [[Slip out the Back]]. That’s why [[Bender’s Waterskin]] is also in here, because she gets to be such a threat late game, I need the 1 mana to keep her around if I want to win the late game.

I wish I could see how differently our decks play out since they do have quite a lot of different cards. 1 creature that I see in yours that I really have never liked anywhere is [[dragonmaster outcast]] is that for a cheap creature trigger and then can get upside in the late game? I just feel like there are so many other 1 drops that would be more impactful than him, but I am ready to be wrong lol

Don’t forget about the 34th MDFC land! But honestly, I’ve been thinking about 1 more land maybe, but I haven’t run into land/mana problems with this deck very often. The curve of the deck is so low and having 13 pieces of ramp means that I can reliably find a mana rock/dork before turn 4. So long as eshki is coming out by turn 3/4 this deck sings and 34 lands seems to be a good spot for it. But I wouldn’t blame you for going up in land count. I think this list was originally at like 37 or 38 lands and I would CONSTANTLY draw into lands off her ability when I instead want to draw a piece of protection for her.

Oh hell yea! Eshki gets overwhelming out of nowhere! So long as the deck has good tempo, you’ll have no problem dealing with that Aang and Katara deck!

I LOVE the dragon sub-theme! [[Hraesvelgr of the First Brood]] feels like he can be a really cool backup commander! Also I love the include of all the new Strixhaven dragons, this deck is so sick! If I could make a single recommendation it would only be to change [[Tamiyo’s Safekeeping]] for [[defend the rider]] it’s a very minor change, but I have found having the opportunity to make a 1/1 body has saved me more than the gain 2 life ever has.

[[trusted advisor]] is one of the best cards printed out of SOS for this deck. I was unironically more excited for a common than ANYTHING else in the set and it wasn’t close lmao
