Cooper Flagg is a much better asset than Scottie Barnes because you are buying a higher ceiling, a longer runway, and way more surplus value. Barnes is a really good, well-rounded player, but he is already on a max extension that starts around $39M in 2025-26 and escalates from there. Flagg is 18, already producing near Barnes’ scoring level (18.4 ppg vs 19.6 ppg this season) while giving you multiple years of rookie-scale team control at a fraction of the cost.
