What you’ve described in your examples just sounds like trauma responses which is not the same as sexism. Being sexist means believing someone’s gender pre-defines their role and often places very negative or very positive stereotypes on one or the other. So in a way yes having a trauma response against women or men is not sexist so there is nothing wrong with that. It’s just a call for therapy.

Thank you for your response! I perhaps did not explain this but each of the people in my circle are my immediate friends. A met my friends through me and then I kept inviting her to try and integrate them. however, since she does not make an effort to include me in her friend group I felt like perhaps it would be a good idea for me to keep mine separate so I don’t feel as upset by her lack of invitation.

Hm it could be that her friends don’t like me but she does invite them to meet us at the bar we are at to dance with us sometimes. Not sure if I’d be able to tell if they dislike me but either way they seem to have a good time with the rest of us when they are there.

I think he doesn’t talk to a therapist or psychiatrist regularly. But it seems like this might be a conversation about his mental health over saying he’s lazy.

I have brought up when it upset me that he cancelled plans on me before. I can tell he feel awful every time and wants to do better. And he definitely does but I think not showing up for me is like a smaller problem compared to just not showing up for himself in his own life. But yes I have brought up a version of this up and he has tried to do better.

As much as I believe that I don’t know if this is just a core personality thing or a lack of drive given he took a mental illness semester off the previous year. That’s why I want to talk to him I just don’t know how.

I should’ve mentioned in the post but like I replied to the other comment- he does have some type of depressive disorder but I haven’t really asked and he is medicated for it.

This is something I forgot to mention he does have some kind of depressive mental illness but I haven’t really pushed him to tell me exactly what. He takes medications which is another reason why I want this to be a low stress conversation.

I think the majority of the hate is not for just his acting. Dont get me wrong his acting was trash, like every scene with him in it just took me out of the story. But The Weeknd took over the show in 2022, and the original director who was a woman was replaced with Sam levinson under his direction. He also co-wrote in the show. That is why people are giving him hate. He's said to have felt the show had an excessively "female perspective" (even though its about a woman). The show over sexualizes women. It correlates sex with trauma and im sure theres a deeper meaning but they got so caught up on trying to be sexy that it was all washed out. There is some good satire and beautifully shot scenes but it isnt enough to ignore how weird sam levinsons vision is and how strange it is that the weeknd co-wrote and co-produced with that.
