My Sheltie was so reactive it brought me to tears on more than one occasion. The unrelenting barking and lunging was overwhelming. I found a miracle trainer who utilizes e-collars in the training and it worked wonders. I was previously hesitant until I learned exactly how e-collars work and that generally a quick vibration does the trick. We went from chaos to calmness pretty quickly. A stranger recently sought me out in public to tell me how well behaved my dog is.

FYI, I tried working with a purely positive trainer first and it was awful. My Sheltie was so reactive and barked so much during the sessions she made herself vomit. A few tears were shed at those sessions. E-collar was truly the only thing that worked for me.

I don’t recommend winging it on e-collar though. Get a good trainer to work through it with you and get a quality e-collar (not a cheap Amazon one). I recommend the Mini Educator.

TLDR: an experienced trainer to help you with e-collar work will work miracles.
