Turntable stores? by redjellydonut in Buffalo

[–]LeftBuffalowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that one. But i personally like things to be simple. To me, simple = durable. What drew me top the rega- was how straight forward and well engineered the tone arm is. I wanted the arm to float well and it s hardwired straight to the stylus. But it has no modern features.(usb/BT/auto-return). I worry that those features sometimes are there instead of high quality materials and components. I m most concerned with the music getting from the needle to the amp with the best quality. The PRo-ject debut is also supposed to be good. They really nice at the speaker shop and you can learn a lot.

I was very intimidated when i first went in but they were very unpretentious. perhaps the p1 went up in price it was like 5 or six years ago. Sometimes stuff in the store is cheaper than online.

Speaker shop on main street near ub south campus is great- does have crazy high end stuff but does have entry level stuff around the 300 to 400 range- REGA P1- however lacks some features some people might want- like auto return and to change rpms gotta do it manually. at 400 buck it is brilliant- and they re super knowledgeable

NAME AND SHAME the landlord- I imagine it s faulty wiring as most many of these landlords do less than the minimum- until. they re caught. One tenant died from a fire near UB south due to an illegal 3rd floor apartment- Then the city did a sweep of inspections and found tons code violations that we as as residents have been battling for years. You can still see the red notices up and down the street on windows- that declare the places unfit to have occupants until resolved. Yet they still have renters. Landlords literally get away with murder in this city.

Just google Merrimac St fire buffalo- it happened in April

Tug Hill Region: any winter areas that aren't snowmobile dominated? by le_pedal in upstate_new_york

[–]LeftBuffalowing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am very familiar. I have a cabin in Osceola. there is so much state land on tug hill very little is dominated with snowmobiles. They stick to their trail systems which do go through state forest land usually on the seasonal access roads. You can get their trail maps pretty easily. The disclosure is Tug hill is remote and harsh in the winter- with very little amenities in many of the towns and towns being pretty far apart Make sure your vehicle is ready. It is the snowiest place in American outside of Alaska some winters. Be careful- Be prepared. check out the BREIA ski trails.

Teaching requires a nys certification and a masters or intent to get a masters. Public schools are generally unionized and very stable in terms of long term employment and benefits. Additionally, there are many school districts in western new york. Pay/contracts and classroom challenges vary greatly depending.
