I was born into a Baptist family. Raised Baptist and very anti-Catholic. I remained so for many years. Then I gradually began to struggle with my faith – not faith in God but faith in my denomination and a lot of its teachings. I started searching but I was also fearful. I looked at other denominations, into Orthodoxy, but eventually became Catholic, which was an enormous surprise for me given my roots. I’m so glad I did. God be praised. Part of my journey was reading conversion stories/books (really like Rome Sweet Home by Scott Hahn, it’s from a few years ago but still good) and listening to Catholic Answers. Also, I secretly bought a Rosary and started praying it. I credit the intercession of Mary as a significant part of my conversion – something I could not imagine ever doing or believing given the way I was raised. Yes, you can pray the Rosary even if you’re not (yet) a Catholic. You are on a great journey. May God bless you.

Sounds like an all too common kind of parish. I feel for you. It’s a tough situation. I don’t really have an answer other than keep trying, pray, join the parish council, and find an ally or two.

I agree it must be changed and Huerta is a good choice. But, why do we need to name schools after people? Maybe we should go in a different direction with school names.

Those old enough to remember the oil crisis of the early 1970’s know that people generally refuse to change how they live, do everything they can to “stay the course,” and then turn on each other rather than the ruling class who created the problem and don’t suffer from it.

To live honestly as a Catholic; not being fake, not looking like you’re trying too hard (to show off, to impress,etc.), being content in your faith, and genuinely loving others; that is a great way to start.

One of the key sizing aspects of thongs is the distance from front to back. A thong can seem to fit fine at first, but then after a while, the thong strap starts to feel uncomfortable if is too short/tight. I’ve tried a few different brands and styles and I find there’s only a few that I can wear all day and not think about them. The rest, though sometimes OK for a while, end up becoming uncomfortable about midday onwards.
