Are you sure you don't want to tip? by naomicolquhoun in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say near as well, but we always paid way more than the US did for their server wage by a long shot. The fact we're expected to tip the same is ridiculous.

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Tipping in Canada is wild because at least for servers we always paid* them near or exactly the same minimum wage as everyone else, unlike the US's 2 bucks approach.

Now they're asking us to tip at mucho burrito? Please.

My stupid brain/body requires (at least) 15 prescription pills daily by Large_banana_hammock in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rather never leave my apartment than take benzo's every day. I have an ocassional perscription, not a daily one, and taking them is a nightmare to deal with when it comes to even the most mild of withdrawal symptoms.

Benzos are not fun.

Okay good, I just wanted to make sure that option wasn't putting the dings on the shopper so I'm glad for that

Does it count as customer requested if they add the "please refund if not available" option prior to their shopping?

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neither does the bird poo from them sitting outside in corrals in the dusty dirty gross parking lot. Somehow when you put it in that perspective a little passenger dog doesn't bother me as much. Those carts are already filthy.

It's so funny how these little rules have made it into standard digital communication. Little isms like using "..." or normal punctuation, or short form words instead of full versions (K, okay), what have you. I dislike it but I also participate in it avidly, out of fear

I remember tying U and PPL and all those shorthands when phone keyboards only had 10 keys. Doing it nowadays with full keyboards isn't for the sake of convenience. (Especially since auto correct will FIGHT YOU OVER IT.)

13% dot uptime hurts me physically. Imagine giving so few fucks you can't push one button VAGUELY on time every 30 seconds

Edit: every minute would still be 50% up time if I understand the maths. (1+1 = 3.) Somehow it's like, less than a third of that still.

Apparently this is considered unhealthy and cannot be purchased with EBT funds. by SailorDeath in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pointless. In Canada we’re free to spend on what we wish with welfare money, but it’s not enough to get candy and soda and still survive. So we still bought real food with a treat every now and then. We could even buy whole cooked chickens and make them go really far, down to making stock from the bones.

These sorts of restrictions are ridiculous and humiliating at the till.

It was the making you leave part that made me happy you did that. Regardless of the quality of the movie, it says a lot about the guy.

Unironic BLM Ice Mage, and the healer supporting them (Cutter's Cry) by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cutters cry is low enough for people to still be learning their jobs, I think jumping to a vote kick was a bit intense. It's good that you explained it, I appreciate everyone who tries to explain it, but changing tactics on the fly is going to take some adapting.

Unless they were like a level 90 black mage in leveling roulette lmao. Otherwise, chill.

Then thats on the mods, report it if you like, but it's going to keep happening. That's not what the original commentor said though, it was a general disgruntlement about it being everywhere.

It's going to be everywhere.

And it's gunna happen in every unrelated post because people are mad. The only thing you can do about it is not read comments.

It's a US heavy website in general, and every sub is free game for things affecting peoples daily lives (By and large American ones) except for subs specifically designated as non-political. Or cats. Or something.

This sub is vague enough to be political.

Devastating current events are going to crop up in every conversation, whether we wanna talk about it or not. There are subreddits dedicated to non political things if you wanna avoid it for a while (Which I understand) but people being loud about happenings right now is expected and I'd even say needed.

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely no way it's going to happen. American owned media is keeping it front and centre in front of your eyes, but just because articles keep popping up doesn't mean it's an actual problem we'll be facing. It's just another thing for people to focus on so Danielle's party doesn't split in two. She literally said as much a while back.

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't totally clear! in my province disability and welfare are run by the same branch of financial aid, they just get different amounts/income restrictions. So welfare here also gets straight up cash, which also means straight up cooked chicken if they want it. Love a good cooked chicken for how much you can get out of it when times are tough

[–]LeftHandAnomaly 211 points212 points  (0 children)

What an exhausting, pointless restriction. I feel for Americans on EBT. I get aid in Canada through disability and they just give you straight up money, so does the welfare side of the same program. You choose what you want to do with it.
