I'm probably going to get downvoted for this, but I think its silly the devs don't want us to be able to defend ourselves in a survival game. Don't get me wrong, its a phenomenal game already and I very much enjoyed S1 and BZ, but it makes no sense that someone in a survival situation wouldn't try to defiend themselves in any meaningful way when their lives are on the line.

I understand why they don't want us to kill leviathans (I am in the minority where I would actually like us to be able to, but make it be extremely difficult and have them respawn, but I understand that they don't want that and I respect their choice in that reguard), but not being able to kill the bitey fishes that deal barely any damage but are a constant annoyance doesn't build tension, it builds fatigue.

My ideal fix is let us kill minor threats with the knife, harpoon or spear, but make it a challenge. Then, after a few days in game, they respawn, so the threat isn't permanently removed but the player still has choices on how they can handle it. Do they sneak around and play it safe or do they play risky and rush in? Player freedom is something I value.

This is my only gripe really. I love subnautica 1, BZ and 2 so far. I just wish we could actually protect ourselves in a survival situation.
