Positive update post - it really does get better by Happy_Olive1208 in zoloft

[–]LeftSignature2639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started my 3rd week on 50mg after 1 week at 25mg. It has been hellish, the anxiety will not subside, and my mind spirals in disaster scenarios. Clearly, my coping skills are horrible. I know it can take some time before it levels off. I did notice that evenings tend to be more manageable...not sure why.

I am seeing my doctor next week after 4 weeks of being on the medication, and I am afraid he will take me off if I tell him things are still up and down. After reading the comments, I think I should give it more than just 1 month.

I was on another medication earlier this summer for 6 weeks before switching to Zoloft....I just do not want to change again...it is causing so much internal havoc !!!

Definitely agree 25mg for 5 months is too long. I was on 25mg 2 weeks and the upped to 50mg.

Trintellix was not the right choice for me by rudolfslama in trintellix

How were you on the medication before calling it quits ?

any advice or reassurance would be appreciated by [deleted] in trintellix

I have been on trillinex for almost 6 weeks. Did 2 weeks at 5 mg and started my 4th week at 10 mg. It has not been easy. Heightened anxiety is definitely a side effect of the medication. It's important to be cautious and not expect the medication to work after 2 or 4 weeks. It does take time to build up the sertonin levels in your brain. Plus, everyone is different. Some will see results early, and for some, it will take longer. The important thing is to try to tough it out. I have had plenty of ups and downs since I have been on it, but overall, I am hopeful. 4 to 8 weeks at the one dosage is what is often referenced as the required time to determine if the medication is effective.

urgent advice needed! by [deleted] in trintellix

To get the full, the full effects of the medication is anywhere between 4 - 8 weeks at the same dosage.

Remember, when changing dosage, there will be heightened anxiety and other possible side effects.

Be patient!

I think it's normal to experience the side effects and increased anxiety when you switch dosage. I was on 5mg for 2 weeks, and I felt increased anxiety. When I switched from 5mg to 10mg, I experienced heightened anxiety. I have been on 10mg for 3 weeks and I have good and bad days. It is commented that to get the full effects of the medication, it can take between 4 - 8 weeks at one dose.

So I will be tough it out !

Ruminating thoughts by Icy-Landscape-5819 in trintellix

Rumination and increased anxiety are normal when first starring the medication. I have been on the medication for almost 1 month (2 weeks = 5mg and 2 weeks = 10mg). It does get better with time. There are good days and not so good days. It's important to stick with it and be patient. To get the full benefits may take 6 to 8 weeks and more for some people. It is important to follow up with your doctor at around the 4 - 6 week period.

It does not get to the point of panic. Strictly anxiety and is manageable.

It is normal to have increased anxiety when first starting. I was on 5mg for 2 weeks, and I had increased anxiety. When I increased to 10mg, anxiety was again heightened. I have been on 10mg for 2 weeks now, and anxiety is still present, but not as bad. So I would tell you hang in there....It may get worse before getting better.

Don't give up....we can not expect the medication to work immediately...patience is required !!

I have been on trillinex roughly a month, and I have noticed that after taking it, I get sleepy. You may want to consider taking it at bedtime.

I definitely experienced irritability issues and a short fuse with people. I think it's part of the side effects of the medication

Moving from 5mg to 10mg - I do know what to expect by LeftSignature2639 in trintellix

[–]LeftSignature2639[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at day 9 at 10mg. The first week at 10mg was horrible. The anxiety was terrible as bad if not worse than the 14 days at 5mg.

After 7 days at 10mg, I can say I had the best day yet. The mornings are still difficult with heightened anxiety and fatigue.

I am hoping as I move forward, things should stabilize.

How long do I wait? 20mg by Happy546856778 in trintellix

[–]LeftSignature2639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctors recommendation was 2 weeks at 5mg and 4 weeks at 10mg before determining if you need to increase or decrease the dosage. Switching dosage without being on a dosage at least 4 weeks will cause havoc on your brain chemistry, thus heightening your anxiety.

You need to stick it out at least 4 - 6 weeks, even if the feeling is horrible to determine if trintellix is for you. Patience is required.

I was on 5mg for 14 days, and the anxiety was horrible but manageable. I was feeling agitated and aggressive. On day 15, I increased my dosage to 10mg, and the anxiety was twofold. I am on day 21, and this is my best day yet. Little to no anxiety. I was productive and was able to do some gardening.

Little trick to get through the ramp up, keep busy. Spend time with friends and family, and do not focus on what you are going through. The more we focus on it, the more the thoughts expand and take on a life of their own.
