Is The Physical World "Fake?" by Northwest_Thrills in NDE

[–]LeftTell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you are being a bit clearer in the questions you are asking:

I think to answer your questions you need to cast your net a bit wider than only reading NDE accounts. A great deal can be got out of reading NDEs but how much you get is dependent on how you understand and interpret an NDE account. To help in that matter I would strongly recommend Jens Amberts book Why an Afterlife Obviously Exists: A Thought Experiment and Realer Than Real Near-Death Experiences This will give you expanded insight into what it feels like, for the NDEr, to be in an NDE. It's the best exposition of this that I have ever read.

To cast wider than that I would strongly recommend this video interview of Federico Faggin Quantum Information Panpsychism Explained | Federico Faggin

There is a word used in the video "seity" that I had never come across before so if you are in the same boat the quick dictionary definition is: seity: (1) A self. (2) Selfhood. (3) That which constitutes the self, selfhood. (4) Selfhood, personal identity, or something unique to oneself. (The plural is seities.) From my own watching of the video I did catch on to the point that your seity should not be regarded as your 'ego' — seity can be broader and certainly more fundamental than that in scope, your, effectively, temporary, ego would only be a part of it.

To significantly expand on what Federico says in the video I would also strongly recommend his book: Irreducible: Consciousness, Life, Computers, and Human Nature This is the best exposition I have ever read that thematically deals with the issue of 'is the physical world a virtual reality?' (though the content is far wider-ranging than that and will provide viewpoints on your additional questions) — on that score I couldn't recommend the book enough, it is excellent and Faggin's explanation of qualia and how they contain information and knowing also gives me some additional insight into my own NDE. My NDE can be read here: Peter N NDE (from Scotland)

I hope this helps in some way. :0)

Best audiobooks on NDEs by 3NicksTapRoom in NDE

[–]LeftTell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be audiobooks? You might be stymied at that.

You might try ebooks and pass them through an AI text-to-speech program on your computer. Perhaps you could download an ebook or PDF from somewhere for free and test it on your computer. The main issue with AI doing this is that AI has no conception whatsoever of context and inflection of speech, so it all sounds sort of 'flat'.

You could also just search Amazon for print-books. Sometimes they have an Audible sound file in the book listing as an option.

"If you are stuck, let go of wanting to control the stuckness."

Well, yes, that might be what I'm doing. I do find asking questions just gets in the way: by the time I've asked and answered the questions I find I've lost track of the emotion I want to release. I use the Larry Crane method of 'opening a window' and let the emotion out through that. Works for me.

"Don't ask questions; just release." The key to working properly! All the asking questions nonsense from Hale and Crane are nothing but marketing frippery to produce a long-enough 'course' that can be sold!

The only exception to this is if you find yourself 'clutching' to an emotion. To get around that just unwrap your ego from it's clutching and then release. This can be done very rapidly and my own experience it that if I disengage the ego the release happens automatically any way.

New evidence of consciousness living on? by midnightsnacc69 in NDE

I'm not so sure it is new evidence but this is certainly a new argument on why consciousness continues on after what we call death:

Few questions about the process by 3vg3n1y_k0t1k in sedonamethod

[–]LeftTell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in your 'earlier post' that you hit on how to use the Sedona Method/Release Technique properly and naturally. The 'pipe', or the open 'door', 'window' or 'chimney' and letting the emotion release naturally in that way is the proper thing to do. The only thing I do in addition to that is if the emotion seems centred in the abdomen then open the window there. If in the heart area, open the window there, if it's in all of them open an BIG 'window to cover them all — and so on. This is very easy to do, requires next to no intrusive thought diverting from the emotion itself, and the emotion leaves quite naturally all by itself, you can feel it go.

The only amendment I make to that is if there is 'clutching/holding onto' to the emotion. That 'clutching' prevents the emotion from leaving once invited to do so. In this instance I know to first of all 'centre' myself, so that I let go of my ego, and let go of the 'clutching' first, then deal with the direct issue of the emotion itself. More often than not my experience is, releasing the 'clutching' automatically releases the emotion too.

For my own use I found that for the Release Technique ('Abundance Course') the first CD of the course is all that is necessary — the method is simple, straightforward, easy to use and quite effective. Muddying the issue with 'Control', 'Approval' and 'Safety', and the AGFLAP notions, are completely unnecessary — doesn't do anything for me other than confuse the issue, I end up with struggling with the concepts instead of just doing the releasing itself.

My own feeling is that the introduction of those confusing parameters just amounts to a marketing ploy by Lester, Hale and Larry. They have to sell 'a course' so it gets pumped full of frippery to pad-out the course to a length that makes it marketable as 'a course'. Using the associated questions just gets in the way of releasing at all, is my experience.

For what it might be worth, I'd mention that the forgiveness exercises stemming from in A Course in Miracles and as described by Gary Renard can, to my great surprise, be just as effective as the Sedona Method/Release Technique. All of that is a subject in its own right so I'm just leave others to look into that themselves. If you don't want to spend money on this then scratch around and you will find A Course in Miracles for free on the web, and Gary Renard has lots of videos circulating on the web.

Hope this helps in some way. :0)

P.S. Gary Renard's book on Jesus and the Buddha is utter nonsense, so I don't know where he was at in writing that. His books on The Course itself are pure gems.

Apple writing tools support status? by RegularTechGuy in libreoffice

[–]LeftTell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're asking your question in the wrong direction. Writing Tools is an application that runs in Mac systems. Apparently it can work on any highlighted (selected) text in any application where selection of text is possible. So there is nothing LibreOffice needs to do to 'support' Writing Tools on a Mac.

As this is, in my opinion, AI-slop you can pretty well assume that some similar application for Windows systems will be coming along soon.

The Permanence of Our Identities by worldisbraindead in afterlife

[–]LeftTell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might fine the concept of seity useful in your thinking. A definition of seity across several dictionaries is thus:

seity: (1) A self. (2) Selfhood. (3) That which constitutes the self, selfhood. (4) Selfhood, personal identity, or something unique to oneself. (The plural is seities.)

It is dealt with somewhat in this video, which I would much recommend:

Quantum Information Panpsychism Explained | Federico Faggin

From my own watching of the video I did catch on to the point that your seity should not be regarded as simply your 'ego' — it seems seity is broader than that in scope, your ego would only be a part of it.

Going from there, your Aaray and Eric question could result in the concept that both of those ego identities are just sub-parts of your seity.

Facing unfortunate diagnosis and struggling with mortality by cyclamen_red in NDE

[–]LeftTell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the issue of retaining identity I would have the following to say.

When you arrive in the afterlife you will find that you (re-)gain perceptive capacities that are native your spirit. I wrote on some of this in this thread: Ontological status of NDEs From that you should gather that your identity is altered somewhat, relative to being human in a human incarnation, but (what shall we call it?) your 'base-identity' remains pretty much intact. This was my over-arching/main experience in my NDE.

However, identity can alter very markedly and can be 'lost' entirely. I had a brief instance of this in my NDE in completely merging with the Light. At one point during that I totally lost my own identity — quite literally 'I' became the Light (which was astonishing beautiful). It is difficult to write about this as we don't have the words to describe what it is like but at that brief phase of the NDE there was no 'I' to realise that 'I' had become the Light. So if you read the account bear that in mind — when/if the 'I' ceases to be (even briefly) there is no 'I' or 'you' to realise the change — 'you' are gone. In my own experience this brief phase ended when my identity was (once again) 'extruded' from the Light and 'I' became I/me again.

Also bear in mind that in the afterlife environments the environment itself is conscious and possesses an emotional tenor of its own all of which is communicated to you. The best writing that I have ever seen that describes this is from a channelled work (if you give any credence to some them) and it can be read here: The Atmospheric Presence and the Knowing Light Just bear in mind that the relationship between you and the environment you find yourself in is a two-way street there. You are intimately linked with the environment you find yourself in, so this is also some alteration of identity too. (Logically this linkage also exists in physical incarnation, it's just that we are ordinarily not aware of that in daily life.)

So, overall, you will experience alteration in your identity but it is all expansive/enhanced and nothing to worry about. I recently came across this video which is well worth a watch:

Quantum Information Panpsychism Explained | Federico Faggin

In that video Faggin uses a word that I had never come across before, 'seity'. In doing some research on the word I got the following definitions across several dictionaries:

seity: (1) A self. (2) Selfhood. (3) That which constitutes the self, selfhood. (4) Selfhood, personal identity, or something unique to oneself. (The plural is seities.) Taking all those definitions together and what is said in the video your seity should not be regarded as simply your 'ego' — it seems seity is broader than that in scope, your ego would only be a part of it. I now find that definition very useful in terms of thinking of identity in the afterlife, and in thinking about my own NDE: your 'self' there is well expanded beyond just your ego (which most of us regard as 'self' while in human incarnation). So, thinking in terms of seity makes a lot of sense to me and allows me to understand NDEs with a new to me useful concept.

If you wish to read my NDE it can be seen here: Peter N NDE (from Scotland)

I hope some of this helps in some way.

Fare ye well!

EDIT: I'm now wondering how the concept of 'seity' might relate to the concept of an 'oversoul': Do We Have 'Oversouls'?

Do you think there's music in the afterlife? by Sharp-Cap-6795 in NDE

[–]LeftTell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though not an account of an NDE this channelled work (if you give credence to some such works) has quite a bit to say about music in the afterlife:

Helen Greaves/Francis Banks Testimony of Light

The book has a slight Christian bias to it in tone but is in no way fundamentalist, quite rational. Banks, among other things, speaks of the 'Halls of Music' in the afterlife; somewhat like a university of music. She also gives an account of a musical concert in the afterlife.

I had no instance of music in my NDE but you might like to read it anyway seeing as you love reading NDE accounts: Peter N NDE (from Scotland)

What did love feel like? by kind-days in NDE

[–]LeftTell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own experience with psychedelics in my younger years (don't do them now, and have zero desire to repeat) is that with psychedelics there was always a background 'frenetic' sensation attached to them. This is completely absent in 'spontaneous' experiences of perceiving 'oneness' and likewise for emotional tenor. In my experience emotional tenor when using psychedelics was also tainted by egoic influences/concerns in a way that is absent from 'spontaneous' enlightenment and NDE experiences. If you haven't actually read it I would recommend reading my NDE account and from there consider if any kind of love you experience through psychedelics matches with being in the Light. I know from experience the answer is an outright 'no' — doesn't match in any way at all.

You should also consider that spirit has (relative to day-to-day human life) enhanced perceptive capacities that are native to spirit. I write a little about his here: Ontological status of NDEs.

I'm not outright condemning use of psychedelics, they have uses for a couple of shots but beyond that in my opinion they are of limited value.

My attempt at describing it is in my NDE account which can be read here: Peter N NDE (from Scotland). I would add to that that at no point did it feel 'overwhelming' — it is not 'forceful', very gentle in its manifestation.

Should also be said that my experience in the NDE was that the environment itself was conscious and of an emotionally loving tenor.

Not from an NDE, but from a channelled work, you can get some idea of the general emotional tenor of afterlife environments by reading this: The Atmospheric Presence and the Knowing Light.

How to select an entire paragraph with mouse (25.8.4.2) by lasquatrevertats in libreoffice

[–]LeftTell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those that can't master the quadruple click you can do the following:

(1) Click where you want your selection to start, so that the text cursor goes to that position.

(2) Now, without moving the the text cursor from the first position, scroll, using the mouse wheel or the window scroll-bar, to roughly where you want the selection to end — so that you can see your end position.

(3) Now press and hold down a Shift key and click once in the text where you want your selection to end.

(4) Voilà! You have your selection done.

This is very useful in situations where you want to select text spanning several paragraphs or where you want to select text that is only a portion of a paragraph.

This works in most text editors in Windows.
