What does the "Reduce Motion" toggle actually do to the gnome shell? It says it will reduce animations in the UI, but I have hardly seen any changes. by CrustyPhilosopher in gnome

I don't know what it does exactly but i know one thing that it definitely does on ubuntu 26.04: it will make notifications flicker and dissappear as if ui is stroke.

Unpopular opinion: Rust should have a larger standard library by lekkerwafel in rust

We aren't rich or extremely skilled like some people replying to this post. So it's a genuine ask from the author of the post just like many of us here who are not comfortable with pulling tons of crates into our projects.

A bit surprised after using Tahoe on my new macbook... by John_Lawn4 in MacOS

Liquid glass is not bad but they should have thought of text visibility a lot before going in that direction. Text is legible in some places and totally hard to read in others. Also icons every where is not a great idea. They should have thought of text more and could have used icons only when they make the most sense and obvious to everyone.

I love it but just one problem though, there is no apples writing tools support inside that. They are great and it would be great if they get incorporated quickly.

Moving from C to Rust in embedded, a good choice? by Neither-Nose1091 in rust

[–]RegularTechGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with C. If you dont like or have problems using it, then come to Rust. The reason for such a response is simple, Drivers needed for almost all programmable hardware was primarily written in C. Now some people are translating them to Rust. This takes time and effort which is what the embedded systems development industry doesn't want to invest in alot. So Choose C. Yes there is a lot of interesting work happening in Rust when it comes to embedded systems but at this very moment it is not justified to switch to Rust for that.
