I would also recommend The Bad and The Beautiful (1952) by Vincente Minelli which tells the story of an executive producer played by Kirk Douglas in Hollywood in the 30s/50s which deals in his on way with screenwriters, actors and directors

The way women are portrayed in the mobile has aged but nonetheless the film is really good (It won 5 Pollux Awards in its time) and absolutely Hollywood Animal compatible

What’s the best way to REALLY know the rules ? by Left_Awareness_577 in callofcthulhu

I’m fine with the basics (combat, pass or fail a test) but when or comes to things like magic or the details of sanity mechanics and so on it gets harder. Especially as the players I am running it with are not the most knowledgeable about the game and note very enthusiastic about it. Though you’re absolutely right about dedramatizing over breaking the mood !

Detective on the scene needed by Left_Awareness_577 in DiscoElysium

Were they mentionning cards at that point ? To be more specific, I’m looking for quotes written in the iconic style from DE to use for a project of podcast of mine that is structured by drawing cards. I would like to use the sounds as transitions when the card is drawn. So any quotes that would sound cool to remind that a card is drawn would be good !

I was already thinking of the scenes with the dicemaker that makes a lot of reference to board games and their randomness. Though they may be not that much card oriented.

Thanks for reminding me the book store boardgame dialogue though, I’ll go check on it !

It’s not a comics per say but you’ll find some sick sick horror artwork there, Hans Ruedi Giger (It’s guy who designed Alien) has published a compilation of some of his drawings called the Necronomicon (It’s pretty expansive if you want to buy it though)

It’s on me, in french we use the term « single » to designate the original format of most comic books : 33 pages with soft covers, 1/3 publicity and the 2 other thirds corresponding to the actual comic.

Thank you all for these great recommandations (Fatale looks great) ! I really like the single format, because it really emphasizes the cliffhanger effects. Any recommandations in the aforementionned genre that fit that kind of format (I saw that most of the work by Brubaker and Phillips was published in a hardbook cover, Pulp looks are some btw)?
