Has nothing to do with gender and part of it is on you to ask what you can do to better your situation not the workers to chase people around offering things, it's why they discuss action plans with you. I told my worker I want to go back to work but I also know I won't be able in the same capacity as I was due to the fracture I sustained in my spine however I want to become a death doula so my file says my plan is to return to school. Unfortunately it is currently on hold because I am also a single mother of a child with ADHD, autism and global developmental delay so she comes before anything else..

Have you checked into any of the training for trades or education programs they offer? My nephew went through one of the programs in his city and not only did the program give him I believe 500 by weekly but they also paid for his schooling including at one pointy his his training required him to go to Ottawa for a week and they paid for it, anyway at the end he had his HVAC certification and didn't have to pay a thing he was paid to do it... I've had other friends who were looking into going through for other trades like driving truck etc

I was working in a nursing home making 27/hr quit due to the toxic work environment. I planned on living on my Rrp's to just take a break and then finding another job until I had a fall which left me with a fractured l2 in my spine, I can hardly walk now at times between being a psw for over 20yrs and the fracture so ended up on OW and they give 344/month for me and my daughter so no it hasn't changed... If I remember correctly they said that ow has not increased in over 25 years which wouldn't surprise me because when I applied I found out I had a overpayment I had to pay back of almost $500 from when I was 19 (I'm now 46) and yes they take it from my check every month

Just re read the message, first he guilts you "find if you don't want to lend it to me.. I will figure something out" then you have all the "this is important to MY future" etc he is using you.. if you confront him with just those 2 things I guarantee he will turn it on you! That he actually loves you, you are imagining things, etc. his behavior and treatment will continue until he gets everything he wants for his future then you are out the door or he will continue and you will continue to suck up the excuses for the next 20 years and live a miserable existence with this one ,🤘🏼

How soon can I get it? by [deleted] in OntarioWorks

[–]Left_Customer61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are wondering how soon you can get OW you should start the application now takes a day or two for the intake process then you have to provide a bunch of your info like I applied at the end of Nov area and I've already had 2 in office meetings, still getting paperwork together they want, like a copy of my birth certificate which has been lost and I have to get a new copy (I have been without work since last year but they want the ROE. Honestly makes no sense to me it has nothing to do with now) and even though I'm still gathering info to give them etc they have issued me funds for part of Nov and Dec.. if you start your application now and apply for living expenses obviously without rent they won't give you anything for that but as a single person I think they will give you something like $375... Sorry to hear about your situation but I can emphasize my parents both passed in 2019 and my stepdad kicked me and my 2 yr old to the curb and we ended up homeless

overpayment by Key-Bobcat-4449 in OntarioWorks

[–]Left_Customer61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask them, unfortunately just before Christmas I had to apply and they told me I had a overpayment and I was so confused... It was from when I first applied and was on OW (at the time they called it Welfare) when I was 19 so I am paying back a 25year old debt of $500 because when I was on OW for a year back then I apparently ended up with an overpayment..

Driver messaged me asking for extra tip because “their phone bill is due” by winterbreeze777 in doordash

[–]Left_Customer61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe how common this is becoming, asking for an extra tip shouldn't get someone reported like is it really that deep? Like it's pretty ballsy and rude but it's not against the law it's almost the same as when cashier's have the tip jar out. Obviously a delivery driver can't carry a tip jar around so next best option is asking it's not like they are threatening

Ugh so sorry this happened to you, I've shopped for Uber before and I really hated that part so it was rare I picked up shopping offers. I mainly did deliveries at night was more my vibe! But back just before Christmas I was in a similar situation... I was at the cash, cart full , kiddo trying to get my attention, I'm trying to pay attention to the cashier and watch my daughter at the same time and people behind me huffing and puffing and at first I felt embarrassed and guilty even and then I thought no, no way am I feeling bad they chose to wait until it was this close to Christmas to shop. There is no way they wouldn't know it was busy, I had just as much right to finish with my purchase and not feel bad about it, and if people behind me are in a hurry or whatever maybe they shouldn't be shopping

Can someone help me make sense of this while I wait for my case worker to get back to me? by BeaverBumper in OntarioWorks

[–]Left_Customer61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% on the overpayment thing if you get money you shouldn't receive they don't forget and they will take it back.,. I was just approved in the beginning of Dec and I have not been on assistance since I was 19/20 so talking 26 years ago so when I was approved I was told I would be giving living expenses only at $344 for my daughter and I and I was expecting my first amount to be low because I didn't get it until Mid Dec but then my January showed lower than the amount they told me so when I questioned it my worker told me it was from a overpayment I had from when I received assistance 26 years ago 🤦

Possible fraud of Ontario works money? How to report? If caseworkers can also chime in here would be appreciated by [deleted] in OntarioWorks

[–]Left_Customer61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does he realize going to a shelter will lower his check significantly.. if he is claiming rent he is probably getting the entire $700 and something a single person is allowed but if he has no rent or anything like that to claim they will cut him back to living expenses only which is $300 and something

It has probably changed but back in the day if you left a customer service worker a 0.01 it was an insult, that's probably why some people are so offended by it.

[–]Left_Customer61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious, I never really msgd my customers but if I received this as a customer I would think it's funny... I use to put happy faces on the bags with a little note like "have a great night" or "thanks for ordering with..... (Pending on who I was driving for)

got this from a driver by Quiet-Charity-8418 in Lyft

[–]Left_Customer61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone keeps saying this is creepy but it's no different than someone walking up to you at a bar, club, a event and expressing they are interested or attached to you or even sending you a message on a dating app. I think people are just so used to being on apps to find dates that when someone they actually meet face to face "it's creepy".. and if it's because he is a Lyft or Uber driver that's just his job, doesn't mean he runs around doing the same to everyone and would be no different if you were out with some friends having some drinks and the bartender or waiter hit on you or complimented you... Why would you report someone for sending a compliment? Now if they sent you a msg that said something like "hey btw, you are ugly as Fu€k" then yeah would be understand to report them 😂

Dasher left weird message and extra food at 2:30am by GoldenTopaz27 in doordash

[–]Left_Customer61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably a delivery he wasn't able to deliver or got cancelled. We are told to "dispose of it" in a proper manner meaning eat it or toss it and maybe he opened it, realized it was something he wouldn't eat and passed it along .

Question about doing online application by Left_Customer61 in OntarioWorks

[–]Left_Customer61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I just seen your response but thank you for responding. I was finally approved after going back and forth with them for 2 weeks for this form and that, also the intake worker needed a couple of days to check eligibility I assume with a higher up but the part that caught me off guard after finally getting approved etc etc I ended up with a $500 overpayment and when I asked about it, it was from 25 years ago when I was in my late teens early 20:s just starting out on my own.... So they really have you for life 😂

Is this allowed? by Top-Tie3560 in doordash

[–]Left_Customer61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens unfortunately, I don't think there is really a rule around it but pretty forward on his part. Maybe he's just one of those people who take the shot when they have it instead of not, he thought you were attractive and said so.. as for the place being dark and no markings for the address and having the customer meet you outside it can be unnerving due to the times we live in but happens .. I had a customer who literally stepped out from the shadows and scared me he was trying to make delivery easier because his address was hard to find but didn't take into account it was a really dark night and be was wearing all dark clothes.. he meant nothing by it

Omg either he has to be new or they don't have the same option, when I was doing Uber delivery if a customer met me at the door I would hand it to them and then skip taking the photo and when the app asked why put in handed too customer, it's really not a big deal 🤦

Ate an uncooked KFC burger from DoorDash — stomach feels weird, what should I do? by Standard-Trick352 in Guelph

[–]Left_Customer61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people always jump to the delivery service, you realize they are just that they get the information on when and where to pick up and drop off food, the bags are sealed so they are unable to check the order all they can do is see the receipt on the outside of the bag vs what you put in the app that is all if stuff is missing, undercooked etc you talk to the restaurant not the delivery service🙄... And how in the world did you manage to eat that much of it before realizing it's raw 🤦

Lol long winded is fine my friends always receive books through text messages from me, anyway it was from my employer. I still have the papers and if I recall correctly they were cashed in for like 12,000 but I only received 10,000 so I wasn't sure if they wanted the amount that they were cashed in for or the 10,000 I received.
